WestMichigan Posted yesterday at 12:54 PM Share Posted yesterday at 12:54 PM With Friday's 1.7" of snow, GRR has passed 1905-1906 ending any talk of futility before winter officially started. While this last week has been a dud it has been a pretty good start to winter so far and looking forward to hopefully much more snow to come this winter.
Brian D Posted yesterday at 03:57 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 03:57 PM Christmas Day eve into Friday may be a wet snow, icy system for N MN - N WI (& UP MI). Looks like I did a decent job with the Holiday forecast in sniffing out the pattern.
hawkeye_wx Posted yesterday at 05:52 PM Share Posted yesterday at 05:52 PM Models continue to fade the Christimas warmth. A few days ago, the GFS and Euro had low 60s up to Cedar Rapids. Now, both are down to low 40s, and the 60s are way down in Missouri. Friday is looking much cooler, too.
cyclone77 Posted yesterday at 05:57 PM Share Posted yesterday at 05:57 PM We're gonna finish 2025 with about 30.5" of precip. About 5 inches down for the year.

DTW is at 12.9" which an exact tie for their 1936-37 futility mark. The average last snowfall is nearly 4 months away.
michsnowfreak Posted yesterday at 06:43 PM Share Posted yesterday at 06:43 PM After having 60s advertised for over a week either Christmas day or the day after, now we may not hit 40 lol.

If we didn't have bad luck… you know the saying lol. I found it interesting that every other Christmas Day since ~2018 has been 50°+ over here per a local met. If I get some time later I’ll check that out.

Who the heck would like 30 or 40s and brown over 60's? 1 1

Who the heck would like 30 or 40s and brown over 60's? I actually didn't say I preferred it, you assumed that..it was noteworthy because the models suddenly chopped 20° off our highs overnight. But of course, your assumption was correct. The untimely melting of the snow makes for a bare Christmas, but the ground is frozen and lakes covered in ice and January and February are big winter rec months in Michigan...so why on earth would I want 60 over 40? 1

But some still enjoy useless cold and 4 hours to get an inch events over 60s in the winter. 1

I'm getting the largest flakes of the season, some 2.5" in size but I wasn't out in it. Its lasting too, 1 hr of large but 10 mins of the giants. I'm just above freezing and near the rain line.

Then another 2 months there for more training in Jan-Feb 1990. Wild wx there with highs in the 80's down to 10's after a blue norther, and 6" of slush snow. And in 1990 spent 2 months (Oct-Nov) over in Albuquerque helping with some testing at Kirkland AFB. Never seen so many tumbleweeds, and absolutely dry wx for weeks. 10% humidity many days. One of the guys had a friend over in Dallas, so we spent Thanksgiving with him, and his family. Was glad to have experienced a different part of our country that is so much different than up N.
