The darn wind woke me up around 4 am. Hopefully my trash cans are not currently in the river!

Low of 50. Winds were howling overnight. Should be some nice squalls around today. I got a final mow and a bunch of yard cleanup in yesterday. Ready for winter, despite some mild spells looking to take hold over the next few weeks.

IMAGE #1 is the 500mb map from the European Ensemble valid as of November 25 on the left and November 30th on the right. and you can see the massive changes that occurs during the Thanksgiving holiday across the Central and Eastern us and North America in general.

IMAGE #2 shows the 850mb temperatures (approx 1 miles above ground) … this is essentially the basic guide for used in determining snow versus rain during the winter months. and you can see how this is really cold air which is delineated by the -10C at 8:50mb with a yellow line it plunges dramatically Southward during Thanksgiving weekend.

A cold front passed through the area earlier this morning and our temperatures will slowly fall into the 40's and then the 30's this evening. A Wind Advisory is in effect for winds as high as 45mph so watch for some power outages in the normal spots. A chilly week ahead with some rain chances Tuesday night and again by Thursday night into next weekend. We do turn much milder by Friday with highs well into the 50's which is about 8 degrees above normal for later November.
