Since my units are upstairs, its actually cooler up there than downstairs.

That's pretty good. I wish it worked that way at my house, lol. 3 units going upstairs and yet it's 81 up here, but it's 76 downstairs where there are no units going. I spend most of my time upstairs since that where all the main rooms are.

Some of these local HI readings are nearing the suffocating levels of the 1995 heat wave.

Going to be a stiflingly hot night coming up especially in the urban areas.

Yep, this is high end stuff even though the actual highs of 95+ haven't happened for many yet. When you have widespread 105-110 HI, that's dangerous to be out in for very long.

The pretend sea breeze might be slowly working here finally, I briefly touched 97 while spending the last 5 hours between 95 and 96, now I'm down to 93.

Looks like the better sea breeze pushed into central Queens west of the Van Wyk first because all those stations are now in the upper 80s while I'm still 93

fwiw... and I need to check some guidance but tomorrows 100+ should reach NYC and much of interior w LI. Airmass overhead entire area is similar.  Too much real estate for the cooler seabreeze to mitigate before 3PM, especially after a head start tomorrow morning at sunrise of 80+.

Pretty good chance interior NJ hits 100 on Wed before storms.

Yes, I'm expecting 100+ all the way to JFK.  It's going to be a historic day!

Even though the mesonet was recently installed back in the 2010s, my guess is that an 80° dewpoint and 113° heat index is probably a new June record for this far north in NY.

is *feels like* scientific? The name doesn't sound like it-- I know it feels hot-- but different people experience heat in different ways so I'm not sure the concept of *feels like* is scientific.

Yeah, feels like in the warm season is the heat index. Feels like during the winter is the wind chill. The actual 80° dewpoint up near the VT border is probably a first for June.

Yeah, looks lIke around 15 individual sites made it to 100°-101° on the NJ WX Network.
