My station hit 103 between 4:30p and 5p today. Highest it's ever been. Wind was from the west at the time.

I can't imagine being above 90 as we approach midnight.  It's so crazy looking at Wundermap right now around Manhattan, Brooklyn, etc.  I've never experiened a phenomenon like that.  Textbook example of the UHI.

Going forward, whether it is later this summer or in future years, whenever a potential heat wave in is the forecast, all the news stories will continue to propagate the misleading statement that "NY City has not reached 100 degrees since 2012."

JFK could have reached 105° if the sea breeze didn’t arrive. The Lefferts/ Ozone Park station just to the north on the other side of the Belt Parkway reached 105°. Another nearby separate Ozone Park station also made it to 105°. Newark and Harrison in NJ both reached 103°. This is the earliest 105° across the area since 7-3-1966. So the first 105° readings in this area during the month of June.

I think this will end up being our hottest stretch of the summer. The extended looks warm to borderline hot, but does not look exceptional. I’m fine with that, but honestly I will take anything if it means the back door gunk is done for awhile.
