The positives are low utility costs. I’ll enjoy it as long as possible.

Yeah, especially with 20% electric rate increases kicking in starting Sunday for all utility companies serving NJ.

Also got a letter last week from home Insurance company (Chubb) that they have applied for a 12% increase.  They were not shy in stating why.  In a nutshell if approved I'll be paying 12% more for California fires, Florida hurricanes and any other weather calamity they want to throw in there.

to be fair today and tomorrow aren't going to be mostly overcast, the sun looks like it's about to come out right now as a matter of fact.

and we got the sun back yesterday around 6 pm and it was a gorgeous sunset.

Looks like about 4 hours - ish of partly - sunny today before clouds come back.  We'll see how quickly we can clear out tomorrow.  Clouds approaching CPA

The costs of homes and autos, including insurance is becoming untenable.  If someone's fancy Land Rover gets washed away in a flood, insurance is out 80-100K, which are costs they will ultimately pass on to everyone.  Even a minor fender bender can be over 10K in repairs.  Many of these homes wrecked in fires and floods are north of a million bucks.  But even lower end homes and autos are becoming too expensive to maintain and repair.

Had .39" here and same, not much watering needed lately.  Needs to dry out a bit or fungus is going to start in the garden.  Already have some red thread going on in the lawn.  The rain is welcome, I'm not complaining but just need it to dry out and get sunny for a few days in between the events.  Can't have everything so I'll take the rain and shut up.

Yeah obviously I'm all for getting enough rain for the garden during the spring and summer, but we definitely don't want it to stay wet for too long.As you said, fungal diseases can become a problem when it stays wet for too long. My tomatoes, peppers and eggplants have had some problems with fungal disease in recent years, but I've been spraying them with a biofungicide. It causes the plants to have an immune response and works pretty well. It has significantly reduced fungal disease problems for me.

We definitely could use a drying out period after this event tonight into tomorrow. I'm glad we're going to see sunny warm weather next week.

Off topic for this sub forum but that is some nasty smoke over the northern plains.  Thankfully the prevailing flow will keep it away from the Northeast at last for now.

Wow that looks like June 2023, I can literally see the Martian dust storm over the Northern Plains.

FWIW the HRRR Smoke model does have some smoke swinging through tomorrow at various levels of the atmosphere. If that happens and if its noticeable tomorrow obviously remains to be seen. (pun intended)
