why doesn't this ever happen in the winter anymore and all snow ?

and also, what happened to that strong pac jet ?

The Pacific Jet begins to relax in the spring allowing more STJ interaction.

Lowest temperature I was able to find in our area was 26 at Toms River.  Even KFOK was at 31, no radiational cooling at all.  Maybe well NW of us it's in the teens?

Good news, looks like both Monday and Tuesday next week will be warm and sunny and in the lower 70s.

Yankees home opener April 1996 was a classic and one of my favorites of all time! We had 4 inches of snow here.

I was working in Berkeley Heights NJ at the time and the snow was coming down hard. Could barely see out the window. I had WFAN on and MIke and the Mad Dog were laughing at Steinbrenner and MLB for not postponing the game.

It became one of our best home opener memories they still replay that game sometimes and of course it was a harbinger for a GREAT 1996 season!!

Hey today's the anniversary of that game and that snowstorm!!

Nope

Sad to know this will be the last one

I don't need to be turning on the heat. But I don't want to be turning on the ACs either.

I want 60s for highs and 40s for lows.

JFK's low should have been at or below freezing.

I did a quick survey of weather stations around the area and the range was mostly 30.5 to 32.4

The higher ones were right on the ocean (32.9 to 33.6) Atlantic Beach and Long Beach.

Mine was 31.5 so solidly below freezing.

Hopefully JFK does too, I'd be extremely disappointed if they don't.

Snow made it into the Poconos and Hudson Valley on lake effect streamers! I wonder if any accumulations were reported anywhere?

JFK reached 32; LGA fell to 33; and, NYC dropped to 31.

Thanks, Don, I posted my survey of nearby weather stations above, they were mostly between 30.5 and 32.4, the ones that were higher were right near the ocean (32.9 and 33.6 Atlantic Beach and Long Beach.) Mine was 31.5 so right in the middle of the range.

Here's some from the Poconos, these were the coldest I could find anywhere within 3 hours of us.  They were between 18.7 and 21.9

Much lower than the 25 degree low reported for KMPO.

Nice to see that storm track finally!! Not an especially deep so we would need strong high pressure interaction for a nor’easter.

4 days in a row with an easterly component to the winds will attempt to push back against the record westerly flow since December.

Could be some min/mid coastal flooding and beach erosion due to the fetch and duration.
The ACOE did a major dredging of fire island inlet and dumped the sand at Gilgo where a new inlet is constantly trying to form. (There was one before it was filed for ocean parkway) Despite the fact that we have had such fast westerly flow the beach at jones beach is already about 50 yards bigger then last summer. Should grow even more this weekend.

Pop some champagne at sunrise!

I heard it here before but I actually agree now. This will be our last freeze.
