I got something to watch, maybe squeeze out some flakes to boot.

You probably missed it, but this was at one point supposed to be my birthday snowstorm. I was hyping it up two weeks out but quickly shut my mouth

Are you actually pumping your chest about possibly getting some flakes in February?

Pfft.  Is that not what we are here for?  Or have we moved on to spring yet? I can't keep up

And wait, didn't you create a thread for this one?

Obviously it's far out but it looks like another more decent setup is possible around the seventeenth. That's my mom's birthday, and it's also right around when I start checking out for the season (barring some real legit shit happening later on) so I'm pining for that one, even at this range.

Way back (March 1900 or 1908) was the golden era iirc. Something crazy like 32" fell in the city inside of 7 days. Different times obv.

1899-00 was an insane winter. It started out so slow. Then Feb and Mar killed it. 58.2" fell in Feb & Mar. The Winter total was 69.1".  Thru Jan weenies would have been so snow hungry. Then bam. 14.0" on Feb 28 & 16.1" on Mar 4/5.

  • 2 weeks later...

TONIGHT
MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 20 PERCENT CHANCE OF SNOW
SHOWERS.

THIS NARROW, BUT RATHER INTENSE, BAND OF SNOW WILL LIFT NORTH
ACROSS THE AREA NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHERN PORTIONS OF LAKE
AND PORTER COUNTIES OVER THE NEXT COUPLE/FEW HOURS.

Update: REST OF TONIGHT
CLOUDY. A CHANCE OF LIGHT SNOW LATE IN THE
EVENING, THEN A SLIGHT CHANCE OF LIGHT SNOW AFTER MIDNIGHT.
DUSTING TO A HALF INCH OF ACCUMULATION
. LOWS IN THE MID 20S. EAST
WINDS 5 TO 10 MPH LATE IN THE EVENING, BECOMING SOUTH AFTER
MIDNIGHT. CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION 50 PERCENT.

this is already wrong. Izzied.

If your in the snow and ice business this type of blown call is frustrating.  Snowing nicely in Dupage County and all roads covered.  Suspect on a Friday night with no real expectation for travel impacts based on forecasting this will create some issues.

Yea, it's coming down here.

Will measure shortly for the hourly, but likely will have near 1" just eyeballing it right now

Sadly this is the most efficient accumulating snow I have seen all winter.  Stacked up quickly

Something's brewing next week? GEFS and Ukie seem to think so.

Several GEFS members are jacked.

We should at least have an anomalously deep system in the southern US.  What happens after that is up for grabs.
