Yep, March ‘18 did a lot of damage over that way, I know a guy that lost several trees in that storm, none hit his house fortunately but one came very close.

72/69 and mostly cloudy, 0.29 in the bucket from storms Fri pm and overnight (missed to the south).  Cloudy and humid weekend.  Mon (8/30) / Tue (8/31) warmer and with enough sun a few 90s possible and perhaps getting Newark to 40 90 (+) days. 

 

Beyond that Wed (9/1) / Thu (9/2) Ida remnants come east and models shift heavier rains into the region now.  Ida's remains clear the area in time for the long weekend and we hover near / above normal with warming by the first week of September.

Last year Newark had its last 90° in August. But that was the exception rather than the rule since 2010. Most years we have had 90° days after September 1st.

I love this list as its my top summer list too.  How come 1966 isn't in this list though- is it close?

But not getting more extreme heat unfortunately, the yucky buggy and disease filled tropical kind of heat.

I'm doing a slight redefinition of what I consider a hot summer.....this one fits my idea of a hot summer slightly better.

 

EWR/LGA..... at least 40 90 degree days and 1 day of 100+

NYC.............. at least 30 90 degree days and 1 day of 100+

JFK............... at least 20 90 degree days and 1 day of 100+

most of my top summers make this list and the ones that dont, dont deserve to

Thanks Don, it just gave me a chronological list from 2000-2021.  I didn't have time to mess with it any further than that but did notice that it was in September and one October for 6 straight years up until 2020 when it was in August (on the 27th) so it's definitely trending to happen later.

Thanks Don!  I love the 90+ days data.....did JFK only have 20+ 90 degree days twice? (1983 and 2010) edit.....2002 makes it in with 21.  So just 3x?
