Whatever happened to good old ''Global warming'' phrase.

"Global warming" is still perfectly accurate terminology. Science communicators started shifting to "climate change" as a show of good faith to those who (either willfully or unwittingly) conflated 'global' with 'universal' and consequently pointed to localized cooling trends – and at the most disingenuous end, individual below-average days – as evidence against AGW. CC is a broader label which encompasses GW, but preemptively makes the symbolic concession that not every day will be hotter than the last at every point on the planet. Sadly, no good deed goes unpunished.

Have to say that I liked 'global warming' a lot better. It accurately describes the ongoing process.

Climate change by contrast is content free imho. It takes a whole lot of added context to give it meaning.

Are they calling this game or what?

Edit just called it

They called tonight's too according to NYCWinter.  It's not even raining.  Maybe the NBA told them to do it so everyone watches the draft lottery lol.

The Knicks enlisted priests, rabbis and witches to help them get the first pick ;-)

Seems like they can't get the field dried out. Also it's been raining on and off out here all day despite radar not showing much

In a recent tweet, Joe Bastardi compared the CFSv2 forecast for May with the May outcomes, arguing that the model did not see the cold. However, he uses the April 1-10 initial conditions. CFSv2 runs from later in April were not far off base. In general, one should also look at later guidance. Modeling can and frequently does change over time.

The difficulty arises when people attempt to use the models as forecasts. By the evidence, beyond day two, the modeling methodology still falls short.

black and white warbler

Nice shot of a Blackpoll Warbler.  It's plumage will look very different in the fall, when it heads back to Brazil.

They do the New York to Brazil flight in a single hop, which is just astonishing for such a little creature.

The photo is of a Blackpoll. The combination of black cap and white cheeks is distinctive.

Is there sound with the picture?
