hawkeye_wx
Rain chances are starting to look better around here with three or four possible events through the weekend. The WPC's latest graphic has 1.5+" in a band through eastern Iowa. That would really be nice.
Chicago Storm
Looks like instead of popcorn storms this morning being an issue for a 90+ day, instead it's a lake enhanced OFB currently moving through that will be the issue.Looks like what could have been another day in the mid 90's with around 70F DP's, will struggle to hit 90 now. hawkeye_wx
Each day, the dewpoint rises a bit more, now up to 74. It is now officially steamy hot. The first day of heat during this stretch was relatively pleasant. Update: The first heat advisory of the year has been issued for us.

Surface flow is still very messy, with the OFB washing out. Temp is jumping quick though on 5min data. I'm back onboard for 90, but anything more is still iffy. Hoosier
This has been one of the drier starts to June for Chicago, with only 0.06" of precip so far this month. In the past 50 years, the only Junes that were drier between June 1-12 were 1968, 1976, 1988, and 2012.

Chicago Storm
ORD dropped down to 86. Looks like 90 isn't happening today, bummer. Nope, looks like 88 will be the high. MDW likely missed it to, at 89. Each of the next few days will have issues regarding 90+, which is unfortunate given UA temps supported mid 90's for today and tomorrow. Hoosier
I didn't realize how warm it has been so far this month, especially out west in the northern Plains. Widespread +6 to +10 anomalies out there. Not that easy to sustain those kinds of anomalies in a summer month so I'm curious to see what it will look like at the end. We'll get some cooldowns, at least in a transient nature, but it seems to me like the positive departures that have built up through the first 40% of the month (and still building) will be too much to overcome. cyclone77
Hottest day of the stretch so far, and also the year. Hit 96 here, MLI hit 95. Muscatine up to 97. Dews spent much of the day near 70 which pushed the HIs into the upper 90.s Some towering cumulus/anvils teasing us on the northeastern horizon. Not expecting anything again tonight. cyclone77
Looks like clouds will keep things in check tomorrow. May have trouble making 90 if the morning clouds don't get out of here soon enough.
Chicago Storm
ORD did indeed top out at 88 and 89 at MDW. Lake breeze begin the OFB just killed the 90+ potential. Given UA temps and high temps in surrounding areas, I'd bet MDW would have it 97 and ORD 96.
