Most places in IL look to be a little ahead of where they were at this time yesterday.

Just missed at ORD, may have even touched it briefly but not enough to officially register as 80 when we weren't watching the 1 minute data. MDW did tag 80.

Tomorrow looks like the best chance for ORD to hit 80 with steadier and more south-southeast flow likely resulting in a later lake breeze passage.

Just tagged 80 here.

Noticed yesterday that it didn't really cool off even after the wind shift off the lake...more like the temp was just held in check.  Given that the wind shift looks to be later today, I think we'll be able to tack on at least a few more degrees.

Already 80 here, which is impressive considering we started at 49.  1 degree ahead of yesterday at this time.  We have a thin layer of cirrus overhead today though, so may not get as warm as it could have.

Yeah there's been some pretty big diurnal swings with this dry airmass.  It got down to 46 here last night.

Yep, that's what's kind of cool (no pun intended) about this time of the year.  We get sort of a taste of what it's like to live in the Plains, with some huge diurnal swings.  There's been years where we have a higher temp in April than we do in May, as May has a tendency to be considerably more humid during the warmer spells.  Once the leaves fully leaf out, and the crops start sprouting out of the ground the huge diurnal swings become much less impressive compared to March and April.  Then of course once we hit mid June it turns into the Amazon rain forest lol.
