A Summer September to remember

I would take this weather until mid October, then flip the switch.

Would have taken it until end of August and made the switch, but I'd also run winter from Nov. 1 until the end of March. Summer would feel like May. No humidity. 150"+ snow every year. Anywhere on the planet like that? Labrador? Newfoundland?

The predicted highs on every site I can find are still a good 10 degrees below the records here in ORH. Our records go back to 1892. Maybe the records will be set in the Connecticut Valley? Coastal Plain? Just don't see them for here in Central MA. But it will still be about 10F above normal and the warmer than normal pattern looks like it may be with us through the beginning of October. Wouldn't be surprised at all if this isn't locked in at least through December.

Need to look deeper than website forecasts..It's a week of 80's

Maybe I can go a September without 30s.

If models pan out, I might be close to doing the same, though I'd give it a less than 20% shot.  In my only September of 17 here without a frost (2011), the low was 33 and two other days reached 34.  This month is almost certain to finish well AN, but I think 1999 is safe as my warmest Sept here - thru the 13th it was running 3.4F milder than this year.

+4.8 at my place compared to my 1998-on avg.  To beat 1999, the rest of the month would have to be equally AN.  Good shot at #2, however.  Would need only to be about avg from here on to top that.

It'll be interesting to see how frost/freeze climo compares to this September.

I just saw that the cold spots in the Adirondacks and NE VT have already passed their median first freeze dates (32F or lower), and they haven't even come close to a frost yet, much less a freeze.

SLK airport median first 32F temperature is September 7th...the latest they've ever gone without hitting 32F, since 1999 when the ASOS was put in, is September 20th, 2010.  I think it looks like they'll beat that as I doubt they hit freezing in the next 5 days.

Lake Placid's median 32F date is September 14th, so that just passed.  Their "late" record is October 3rd in 2003.

To date in Kevin's hottest September on record:

BOS: +4.6

BDL: +5.7

PVD: +4.5

ORH: +5.1

May be a top warm September up this way.

Fairly uniform departures locally no matter what the elevation.  With another torch this week (near record highs possible in the upper 70s to mid 80s), these aren't dropping quickly.

MVL ASOS... +8.4

BTV ASOS... +8.2

Mansfield Summit... +8.0

BTV still without a below normal day since August 8th.  And they've only had 2 below normal days in the past 50 days.
