Just got in from shoveling and building my best snowman of the year (spring guy, with beach towel, chair, golf club, boogie board, etc.) and as of 6:50 pm we have 4.5" on the ground and it's 31F.  Looks like another 30 min of moderate to light snow by the radar, so maybe we get to 5" by the end of the storm.

4.5" puts me at 50.75" for the season - wow!

It's been snowing lightly on and off since my last measurement, so we got about another 1/4" for 4.75" for this storm.  Still snowing lightly right now, as a small lobe of precip is over our area.  At 51" for the season, after 62" last winter.  NYC has only had >50" in two consecutive seasons once, with 50.7" in both 1915-16 and 1916-17.  Last year Central Park had 57", but this year they're only at 44", so they likely don't make it this year (we've had several storms this season where we had an inch or two more than them).

At 0z / 8 PM ET...the area of low pressure...not a very deep cyclone @ 1010 mb... was spinning less than 100 miles to the east of the southern part of the Delmarva Peninsula.  Should continue to throw moisture back on its north side into the cold air in the form of snow showers overnight.

What a truly horrible station for winter weather that is...and it has been for as long as I can recall.

Another 1/2 inch last hour in Port Jefferson; 6.5 inches as of 8:45 PM...just light snow falling at the moment.

Very little new snow in Port Jeff the last hour; I'd say about 1/10 of an inch...bring the storm total to 6.6" at 9:45 PM.  Flurries at present.

Just got back from Linden, where it stopped snowing and was even a little misty ZR. As I got past Merck it started snowing hard again. This stuff compacted a lot and doesn't look as deep as other similar storms.

1 person measured 7 .2 here in CN 1 person measured 7 .1 in Marlboro ,

I measured 6.5 regardless this was a great storm in MC for late March.

Damn I must have literally just missed the heavy stuff to my south. That 7.1 measurement in Marlboro had to have been on the southern end of town near Colts Neck. Like you said though, doesnt matter. Still a great late March snowstorm.
