Man the 6am observations were pretty interesting in the CT Valley...

BDL...45/44 with a North wind of 7mph

HFD...59/56 with a South wind of 13G28mph

Probably won't see that all too often where BDL is 15F colder and flags pointing south, while south winds are moving over HFD with humid/warm conditions.

I thought something broken was going on seeing my wind has been out of the NE since midnihgt.

Temp climbing rapidly though.

39.1/38

It's like a late August morning out there with winds gusting close to 50 and high warmth and dews..Almost like a TS

I was wondering if you were feeling the humidity...dews tickling 60F?

Still pretty cool that you won't see these two stations be this different...even 180 degree difference in wind direction.

Gusting to 39kts at TAN.  That's a solid obs from them.

By comparison:

Peak gust from Sandy was 41kts

Peak gust from Irene was 42kts

February Blizzard 44kts before the ASOS crapped out.

That ASOS has surprisingly low gusts, but some of those places surrounded by trees have that issue.

I've noticed it thru the years.  It's always been a notch lower than the surrounding ones(ASOS) when it comes to these systems.  I made the comment the other day that I wonder if it's a siting issue.  It's about 100' away from some hanger buildings that are to the SSE of it and there is a bit of a knoll on the S side where there a pine trees.  That is about 500' away to the treeline.

To give a sense of the temp difference ahead/behind the front:

60* at HPN, 41* at Sussex Airport (FWN).  Not a whole lotta distance between those two points.

Temp dropping here, ftw.

42.3/42 off a high of 43.2; light winds continue, but have now moved to WSW.

Acutally dropping fairly quickly.

41.8 only 3 minutes after the above post.
