It's a walker (Kawasaki brand). I'm thinking that it's the transmission that's went bad since, as you say, it sits and does nothing. No matter what speed you shift to, it still remains stationary. As far as I know, the cable connected to the lever is just fine and the lever itself is capable of being squeezed all the way past the neutral setting. Eventually after a LONG rest, I went back to finish the rest of the grass but let me tell you the combination of the weight of the lawn mower with the hill I was cutting gives you quite a workout but at least the job's done.

http://answers.yahoo...05065226AA6cNa6 and this http://www.lawnsite....hp/t-79505.html

I'd make sure the push/pull hasn't slipped a bit in it's screw. Make sure the end of the cable is doing something down at the bottom when you move the shift. Broken or rusted cable maybe. Then the belt. Stick or grass in the belt? Frayed, broken, loose. Then it's off to the trans. If it has chintzy plastic cogs anywhere in the works, there's your problem :) If you ditch it, save the engine. YOu can always pick up a body at the local guy repair place, but a good engine will cost some bucks. Make you a motor powered sled, and forget the grass :) Winters coming on now  T

Hawksfan, look at laurel valley cabins in Townsend,TN. Price is good for the area. Youve got the smokies on ypur doorstep including cades cove. We used them back in April.

I Highly recommend Cades Cove if your in the Pigeon Forge, Gatlingburg area. Beautiful place with lots of wildlife that are for the most part tame. Also quite a few walking trails.

Cades Cove is a beautiful place

Thanks folks, I'll check out the area, sounds like it would be a nice spot!

You will certainly be missed down here, I for one enjoyed your forecasts and posts as much as anyone's. Good luck

we will certainly miss you too! be sure and post a couple of pics from a good LES event :)

All the best. We should have a pool to guess the date you will post, "Make it stop". I'll take March 15th. tongue.gif

Glad to hear you have settled in  Don't forget about us when you are living a winter weenie's dream :P:hug:

The Southeast forum & especially the Asheville group is really gonna miss you Phil! Great contributions from you. I am certian that many times we will all be living vicariously through you up there this winter. Hope you are posting more than not during the winter. Good Luck!!! Don.

You guys are all too nice! hug.gif Everyone up here keeps telling me that I'm going to be hating how cold and snowy the winters are here after a few months, but I think they underestimate my love for snow and cold wub.gif

I guess I'll take your station off the member list until you can get it going again. Let me know.

And good luck up there, at least you'll have a lot of snow! Snowman.gif

Sorry I couldn't get the station back up... there was a lot of complications in the last week that involved me losing my primary laptop, so I'm actually fortunate enough to trade devices with a close friend, so I have internet access again. The station itself is still down in the Carolina's so unfortunately so it might be quite some time until I get a house of my own before I'll have a dedicated Vantage Pro weather station. I'll keep you updated though weight_lift.gif

Are there any drummers in the house? I was browsing through some music files and videos tonight and come across a group called X-Japan. I've always loved progressive rock because of all the elements it has. Good bass, guitar, odd timing signatures and the excellent drumming. I bet this guy is tired. By the way, there are several more parts to the song. Up until this point, I always considered Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater the world's best drummer, but eh may have to re-think that. The colored hair may throw some off, but whats the saying about juding a book by it's cover? If you take the time to listen from part 1 to the end, its quite a song. "art of life" sums it up nicely.

Haha thanks a bunch. :) Glad you took the time to help. Hopefully once I get the transmission fixed up, I can cut with ease once more. No plastic cogs involved with this mower and the cable appears to be just fine. It seems as though the pulling is only performed by the left rear wheel. Not sure how but that's the way it's been working apparently. Sorry for the late response.

Btw, I would attempt to make a motorized sled but I'm happy with my torpedo-brand long orange plastic sled. :) Had it since I was a kid and always provided the experience of all things fun when sledding.

Hey Guys, I'm leaving Saturday morning headed to Maine be there the week of 29- sept 3, What's it look like for that area as far as Irene bringing rain? Do you think it will pull north after land fall and bring rain in the NE? I hope not I'm going on a Bear hunt so I need that baby to head back out to sea before it gets up to Maine..

Back in the mountains. It was an epic summer break but there are few things I didn't know about living at the beach all summer. Here are a few observations I made.

#1 -Don't go barefooted all summer. Wear sandals or at the very least flip-flops or your feet we'll adapt and grow their own. Plus, apparently it's nasty. I was at a cook out the other night at some good friends and was handed some of those surgical booties. I was told they were if I decided to go inside.

#2 - Soaking in a hot tub or swimming in the ocean or pool is not a substitute for bathing.

#3 - Ear and nose hair, plus beards, still grow at the same rate as they did before. Groom.

#4 - If you're on the beach with a bottle of bourbon and some friends at 2 am, in front of your own house mind you, and a cop rides up on a 4-wheeler and "suggests" you take the party inside, it's not really a "suggestion".

#5 - If you and some of your drunk buddies want to take the boat out for a while make sure at least one person has some ID. It was all I could do to convince Capt. Nemo that my name wasn't Ahmed (See observations 1 - 3) and we really were just out cruising around for awhile. The Coast Guard don't play.

#6 - Speaking of boats, never give the keys to the cruiser to your 18 and 17 year old sons and the two "chicks" they just met. Especially when the younger one winks at you and says "don't worry Dad, I got this ". On the bright side, there is a new dredged channel across Bogue Sound from Salter Path to Morehead. I expect a Christmas card from SeaTow this year.

#7 - At 50, you're not as "hot" as you think you are when laying out on the beach. One day last week me and Pam were sitting there and I said, "look at all these woman checking me out". She said, "yeah, but look at at their faces, they look disgusted". After ten minutes I agreed .

#8 - You can eat to much fish. I know the Orient has proven that it's the key to longevity but is it worth if you're sitting on a commode.

#9 - Don't get involved in the local politics by speaking your mind at a city counsel meeting. The only thing you'll achieve is not having your garbage picked up for almost two weeks because there was a "new driver" on the route.

#10 - Finally, don't sulk the last 2 or 3 days before you move back. It might be a good thing for all involved.

All in all, a great summer! Glad to be back at "home" though. But it better snow soon!
