Moderate snow falling here for the last 20 minutes or so. Pretty to see, but not accumulating. Looks like downsloping will kill most of this as it tries it's best to head down the other side of the mountain. Perhaps as the energy comes at us later this evening, maybe we will see a light accumulation (1 to 2) here in the Tricities

Are you experiencing sleet/rain mix due to the warm nose or what?

We hadn't gotten any precipitation since the short period last night... so there was still a little bit of dry air aloft that likely caused us to have some sleet mixing in with the rain. I think we should go over to all rain here in a bit. The temperatures aloft will simply be too warm here :(

So to answer your question... yes the warm nose aloft here is preventing any sort of snowfall in Asheville, which was expected.
