  1. Yeah, it's a gamble being on the island. Driving over it yesterday I think it'll be ok as long as it doesn't get crushed by waves. I'm guessing Josh is down by Canso?
  2. Any worries about the causeway shutting down? I see that Josh is hanging back on the "mainland".
  3. This may be the benchmark storm for many coastal areas across a wide stretch of the region. This is not hyperbole either, this thing is a beast and has unanimous support to be an incredible cyclone at landfall. Glad Josh chose to chase this one, I think this will be a historic event
  4. Josh is gay. He lives in MS where he can chase canes better than where he used to live.
  5. I just wanted to thank everyone for all the work they do posting information about all the storms on this forum, as it makes it much easier to monitor what is going on when all the info is in one place. I also appreciate all the storm chasers who show us videos of what we can expect, which is both educational and motivating, it helps one to gauge what they can handle and to get things done in a hurry when preparing for a storm. I would also like to thank the chasers like Josh who help collect important information about these storms. So often the chasers are demeaned but I have learned a lot from the chase posts and videos. To anyone else who may be affected by this storm I wish you the best. Going to go freak out now and start trimming branches, and tying things down.
  6. I wonder where Josh is going to set up. I'm guessing probably not too far from me, but further south. Recon has found Fiona's pressure has fallen to 932mb.
  7. Josh is chasing in Canada for the first time I think. This is going to be bad even by NS standards.
  8. I guess another question I'd bring up is what are your thoughts then on our beloved Josh Morgerman? He's built a career on destructive/deadly weather events...however, he is furthering the field with his data/experience. He literally tries to place himself in the direct path of some of the most dangerous storms on Earth.
  9. Japan just only recently started to let their borders open again and there's still some restrictions currently. Things like bands are allowed since it's not considered tourism. But if you're a tourist which Josh would be considered by them that's probably why he still wasn't allowed in. Shouldn't be much longer though before they let everyone back in and then he should be able to do it there again
  10. I don't mean to downplay the catastrophic flooding that is occuring in Puerto Rico but from an armchair meteorologist perspective, flooding isn't that interesting to me. Hurricanes interest me because of the wind. I eagerly await Josh's videos, but honestly an 85 mph cat 1 strike isn't the most interesting.
  11. Per Twitter, sounds like Josh nailed this one.
  12. Lol oops. What a meltdown. Not surprised though, Josh McDaniels is terrible.
  13. Josh may have a little nasty encounter with the eyewall if he stays put as the core may take on a more WNW/NW vector soon as the vortex is clearly getting stacked and should feel the deep layer motion. Really this jog should be temporary given structure.
  14. Sickening radar returns across PR. This is going to be a devastating flooding impact there. Several gust reports over 100 mph, definitely a feisty storm. Will be interesting seeing if Josh can get the eye in DR
  15. Was actually expecting to see Josh here.
  16. I think it’ll be a hurricane, but that center reformation has me spooked that I’d miss the center. One thing that I think I learned from Josh is island roulette is a dangerous game. If I land in PR tonight and things shift to a landfall in DR or the USVI there’s nothing I can do.
  17. TUTTs have been really hurting both Pacific and Atlantic. Gonna need to watch more reruns of Josh’s adventures lol.
  18. Based on my memory, these fruit based terms were originated 10+ years ago by board member and chaser, Josh Morgerman. And they stuck!
  19. Yes, it is. And yes, it can be. Yet Reed yelling tornado, Josh hangin on to a palm as building parts flash by his head and Frankie telling the world that Fargo is going to be inhospitable is what gets the clicks and likes. Makes no sense. But I will continue to show the weather in its beauty in stealth. It just looks so cool that I have to do it.
  20. Haven’t had any rain since like noon. But at least a bottle of Josh and steak take the pain away.
  21. Glad you're okay Josh! We had an EF2 go through Hamburg 1/2 mile from my house a few yrs ago and it wasn't really predicted well here either as they are so rare around this area. Believe SPC had 5% hatch for tornados, but it spun up so fast coming off the lake that the warning was quite late.
  22. Josh. How many times has DTW beat out ORD since 2000
