  1. Past hour
  2. That trailing s/w seems to be trending to a cleaner and cleaner phase.
  3. Maybe not "smoke" per se, but pasted with mashed potatoes sticking to every single surface if that verifies!!
  4. @Inudaw More amped storm helps our chances for once? Tilts the bands into RVA?
  5. This snow will be very, very heavy. Heads up for the shovelers.
  6. the SW edge of these things are always brutal 12/30/00 was a disaster there
  7. Soundings have us at 33-34 at 18z tomorrow. Other runs/models were 35-37
  8. I think NAM is going to be the greatest model run of all time for Philly. Topping last night
  9. 51 and partly sunny. Since I haven't updated on river ice in a while, there is still full ice coverage on the Bush River near my location as far as I can see. Melt is most definitely on ofc. According to the Nat'l Ice Center mid-Atlantic chart, the western shore tributaries north of Balt were 70-99% ice covered, with few small more melted spots - as of yesterday (chart still the latest).
  10. We never stood a chance with this set up unfortunately. Ill live vicariously through all the videos. We will get ours one day. I might be 60 by then but it will happen.
  11. If I remember correctly boxing day was a bust for them.
  12. It was nearly the most accurate IMO with the flip over to sleet in the January storm.
  13. Huge mashed potatoes falling from the sky, it would be a lot of fun.
  14. The 500mb progression on the NAM is just perfect for heavy snow in this area. Wow.
  15. Winds were pretty middling with that one, this will have insane drifting. Looks like gusts 55-60 well inland could be 70-80 on the immediate coast.
  16. Central pressure gradient a tick NW Sent from my SM-S166V using Tapatalk
  17. Blizzard and Winter Storm Warnings Expanded The blizzard warnings were extended about a county inland by the NWS (counties in orange) and those watches for counties in NEPA were converted to warnings (pink), as the NWS clearly has more confidence in more snowfall making it that far inland so they upped snowfall for everyone especially west of 95. Below is a bulleted summary of the blizzard/winter storm warnings which is easier to digest than those long text strings the NWS puts out. Hopefully we'll see a new NWS map soon, as snowfall amounts have been increased, as per these warning amounts. Specifically, the warning for Somerset/Middlesex/Mercer is for 16-20" of snow and the map had us at 12-16" (and this goes for everyone). The links below have the full text for all of the warnings. Blizzard Warnings from the NWS-Philly and NYC Blizzard Warning for Atlantic-Cape May Counties for blizzard conditions with total snow accumulations between 12 and 20 inches and winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
