New Canadian run has a nice Summer for me - wet and cool, especially June/July. Monsoon very strong for Mexico and the SW US. Cold winter for the eastern US depicted, although Jan is pretty cold in most of the country. Gulf of Alaska low is kind of...south of the Gulf of Alaska.

Euro says next weekend is an inferno around here.

1. 2023 Nino peaked at near moderate/strong border based on RONI. RONI (relative ONI), unlike the traditional straight ONI, takes into account the warming surrounding tropical waters from global warming. RONI has been on avg ~0.5C cooler than ONI in recent years. So, whereas 2023 ONI peaked at border super/strong ~+2.0C, RONI peaked at only ~+1.5C (not super). 2. 2018-9 was weak Niño. 3. 2015-6 was the last super-Nino. 4. 2014-5 was weak Nino. Looks like another .25”+ today at home

Used to go up in the general area for the annual Stellafane amateur telescope making convention in Springfield, Vt. Took trip one year up Mount Washington in mid August. Nice enjoyable sunny day at the top. Basic sweatshirt weather with temp in maybe low 60s. Low clouds started to come in climbing the mountain then dropping on the other side. Then fog and since I was the driver for the group, I stated that I was not driving down the mountain in a fog. The ranger stood out in the road to block us as we got to the bottom and pulled up to exit past the gate. He had a kind of stern look on his face as he approached the car. He asked if we had a good time at the top and if we enjoyed ourselves. We were a little nervous and stated that we had. Then he gave us a little smile informing us that we had got down just in time... Whiteout conditions at the summit! I was thankful we left when we did. I'd take fog over snow coming down the mountain any day.

Yeah good call, it was downwind of the storm. I figured the dry low levels to start must’ve been eating up the liquid drops while the hail could make it to the surface. Still, not something I can remember seeing before. Just scattered hail stones falling as the leading edge… usually hail only comes in the core around these parts.

Absolutely beautiful last day of May. Low of 60 and a high of 78. Dew points in the 50's and a nice breeze added to the perfect day. Monthly stats: Highest temp: 91 Lowest temp: 44 Rainfall: 5.04" thanks to last weekend.
