So I drove around a lot of CON the past couple hours…mostly 96/97 on the car and it’s historically consistently 2° too warm so 94/95 matches the ASOS obs well. But there’s always a warm spot on the north end that goes up a few degrees around the 93/393 split up to about the river…basically the NHTI area. Sure enough, went through there and the car thermo went from 97 to 100 to 96 (95 to 98 to 94). There’s definitely a little heat boost in that river terrain carved out by the old Lake Merrimack.

Probably reached past -25 only once last (cold) winter - the frigid (2/-13) Sunday as the fluff bomb was approaching. Most recent -40 would be Feb 3-4, 2023. It's not an every-day phenomenon. (Unless you're on the Rockpile) Mid 80s here with somewhat filtered sun and TD about 70 - summer. Forecast for tomorrow would predict a new hottest day here (currently 93) but our dense forest pumps cooling air into the atmosphere. The co-op 3 miles to my SE has a much better chance to be 95+.

Here in East Nantmeal I recorded a high of 91.0 degrees this is only the 66th time since 2004 we have seen a 90+ day at this location. This is the first such day here since last June 25, 2025. Tomorrow and Friday don’t look as humid. So even though the temps may be a few degrees warmer it won’t feel as oppressive.

The max on the mesonet was 97 and IAD/BWI were also in the 97 range. I think we generally were not quite there yet with the overall environment and the DPs didn’t help. Feels like tomorrow and Friday are likely triple digits though.

SUPER localized scouring out and mixing in parts of the metro area currently. All sites are carrying a 70+ DP, except for ORD and UGN, which have been running in the low to upper 60's. ORD has a current DP of 63, with 70 at MDW. ORD also has the highest area temp currently at 95. I cross-checked things with our back-up units here, and they are right on par with the lower DP and are actually running a bit warmer with the temp at 97.

Os got decent pitching, timely hitting, and didn't have costly defensive/ base running gaffes. Solid game by O'Neill(need way more of that) And they won. Imagine that.

Looks like after multiple attempts to go higher, I pretty much hit 95 as a high for today. Since I only reached 89 for a high yesterday, today starts my heatwave clock. Currently HHH with a bit of a breeze and 93, with a ridiculous dp of 80 (weather station has a "feels like" of 112).

@dendrite ASOS has been down at BDL since last Thursday morning. Screen just says "NO CARRIER" and we were directed by FAA to just let obs go out on AUTO.

Good, actionable info. A lot of anecdotal comments going around without nuance… obviously everyone’s mileage will vary.

Yeah I bet the neighborhood is bustling at -25F. I love the cold and spend most time outside on the mountain in it, but it’s a fools errand to say more folks are outside in extreme cold than extreme heat. Plenty of folks out up here.
