  1. Past hour
  2. The system is weaker, which is why we saw several breaks of sun during the day. 90% of the time, when it become overcast, and sun breaks through, it is the kiss of death. Didn't say anything earlier, didn't want the weenie tag. Also, the center of the storm is north. Maybe see some moderate snow as more consistent precip moves our way?
  3. Can confirm, started at 605....just measured 4.3" and still dumping
  4. lull has reached hunderdon county. better hope this backfills or it'll be out by 10pm. a warning and state of emergency for this is a joke.
  5. Still all sleet in upper east Manhattan
  6. This was always a NYC storm. Happy for them to cash in. We were never in the game
  7. Heavy snow now. Still like us for 8”
  8. Dry air just eating it up here . This is excruciating waiting
  9. I hope it’s the worst bust of all time for New York City. Nothing worse than hearing sleet when it’s supposed to be snowing.
  10. You missed the glacial January 1977, I think still the coldest on record here in Philly, back in the days when temps would go below zero more frequently (KPHL hasn't gone below zero for a low since 1994). I remember the walks were literal sheets of ice and the bus route that I took to high school that went up a little hill under train tracks, could not get up it so people had to get off the bus and walk up to the top and then get back on (the route has eventually modified decades later to avoid that hill). Salt truck just came through! Yay!!
  11. I don't think that is necessarily indicating a change to sleet, I think its indicating that as the DGZ begins to dry out behind the banding and precipitation rates taper off, precip could end as a bit of sleet pellets but that isn't going to negatively impact totals. All of the accumulation will have occurred by then
  12. More sleet than freezing rain here, just enough rain to glue it together. Some heavier bursts approaching heavy sleet. We thought a kettle fire might help the bamboo (any excuse for a kettle fire, although its not ideal, lol), kind of like the heaters in Florida for the orange trees. Not sure how much its helping but it's a nice concept. Much prefer sleet. Got a nice coating on smooth surfaces
  13. Your doing good, only about 3/4 of an inch here.
  14. Yeah, I thought it looked like 12/14 too. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that those of us situated between the mts and ocean don't get skipped.
  15. Either crews got too excited, or the budget this year was massive (allocating that much money to winter weather needs to be justified one way or another)
  16. Anyone else having tiny, mangled flakes mixing with the sleet?
  17. Don't give up yet. Should still see a few inches of mixed precip. I PROMISE you that you will see many many more impressive snowstorms and epic winters.
  18. Sleet line collapsing everyone says banding should start soon guess we’ll see
  19. afterwards, on-and-off precip should persist overnight.
  20. Probably belongs in banter so mods feel free to move (wait, do we have mods?). Needed this after that drive. Tasty stuff:
  21. this is the most salt I have seen laid down on the roads in a long time- roads just wet here
  22. Absolute poundage in New Haven county and prob into Litchfield county
  23. Visiting family in Westport. Have about 2.5-3 and still coming down hard even though flakes are tiny.
  24. 3.5 inches in yorktown, these dark green/light yellow are 1 inch/hour on the nose, the yellow blobs are 2 inch/hour.
