Central PA Winter 25/26 Discussion and Obs
ChescoWx replied to MAG5035's topic in Upstate New York/Pennsylvania
The NWS forecast for many spots across Chester County has low temperatures falling to below zero for the next 3 mornings. To put that in perspective. I have lived here in East Nantmeal and have been taking daily observations for the last 23 years. For the first 9 years from 2004-2013 we never had a below zero reading. Since 2014 we have had only 7 such days and have never even experienced consecutive days below zero. Of note East Nantmeal is at a relatively higher elevation at 685 ft asl. Some relatively low spots like Warwick Township (407 ft asl) have had 12 subzero days since 2012. Below is the list of the only below zero days here in East Nantmeal. 1/31/19 - 4.8 below 2/20/15 - 3.1 below 2/16/15 - 2.8 below 1/7/14 - 1.6 below 1/24/11 - 1.2 below 1/22/14 - 1.0 below 2/24/15 - 0.3 below -

That was so me too! My family thought I was weird and certainly thought I'd be an on TV weather personality when I grew up. Lol Just loved watching the winter weather as a kid and still do! Some things never change! I remember my first little digital thermometer with the long wire attached, running it out a window! I was in heaven! Sent from my SM-S938U using Tapatalk- 210 replies

Just out of curiosity, could sparse data be affecting model outputs? How's the sampling in the source region for this thing?

Are EPS LP tracks are product anywhere? Would be curious which of these are the primary from NC coast and which are the convective Bermuda bound. -

The “I bring the mojo” Jan 30-Feb 1 potential winter storm
Spidyr2k replied to lilj4425's topic in Southeastern States
This was my first thundersnow event. Tarboro, NC. My son's 2nd birthday was that Sunday, 02March. We made chocolate snow cream in a huge bowl and let him eat/play in it. Shut down the region for a week. Core memory. Hopefully, Gianna will give a new core memory. ❄ -
Tonight IS a cold one. We all saw last two nights pretty early on temps being forecasted too cold. Right now it’s 17.6 so 0-5 not off based 12 last night and 9 night before gets eclipsed.

I had to think too much to figure out that he was using 15:1 ratios at all of those locations. If this thing hits LI, it'll be around 10:1.

This is so reminiscent of 2015. Gfs would go East and everything else would go west and you’d get people saying it gone, congrats Stellwagen , I’ll give it one more model cycle etc -

Imagine that…. Weather next 2.836473838 is delayed again tonight. If you’re bored waiting on the NAM, check out the high end SREF plume for Bristol.- 210 replies

I got the thing maximized on a 55 inch TV I'm using as a third monitor with the music playing. Very very cool, thanks @Holston_River_Rambler!

Texas 2026 Discussion/Observations
Stx_Thunder replied to Stx_Thunder's topic in Central/Western States
I can only imagine how tough it is to stay comfortably warm. Especially when it goes on for days with the cold still in place in the state all this week. I was without power for 2 days after hurricane Harvey (2017), and even that wasn't too comfortable either without A/C. 11 K people still look to remain without power in ETX tonight. -
