Flew my drone over Cumberland Cove this morning between Monterey and Crossville. Still some good fall colors surprisingly, mixed in with the snow. We are currently in a lull, and the sun was trying to peek out at times. 23 degrees.

Hello everyone, apparently there has been 10" of snowfall in Winthrop Harbor (a northern suburb of Chicago)!

We're so due for a legit winter. I hope we get a White Christmas. Just a solid 3" - 5" event that sticks around for a bit. That's all I'm asking.

It started snowing yesterday evening, and I had around 1/2 inch overnight. Currently light snow and 28. Waiting on the slug of moisture with the S/W in Kentucky to rotate through this afternoon.

I like the fact, however, we finally have Roundy in our corner.

I hope it's right, but honestly didn't believe it when Snowman posted it and don't believe that one. Models just don't forecast the MJO well.

Maybe so. Getting close to a thread worthy event maybe short-term forecast and obs combo thread. Might not need two for this one though. Thank you for all the ground truth! Fun to see how everyone is doing and I find it useful for work too. Indeed another short wave is coming in behind for this afternoon. Bubbly satellite loops show it coming out of Kentucky. Plateau and Mountains should continue going. Maybe some Great Valley North. I don't expect much in Chatty. Still I'm happy for y'all and will enjoy it vicariously.

What has been the approximate range of total snowfall for Chicago, itself, so far? I know there’s a last gasp now near the shoreline.

23 currently with moderate snow. 2 inches so far with untreated roads covered. The snow has dramatically picked up in the past fifteen minutes.

Ya that was a good winter here…Shuttle Meadow very pretty/picturesque area too-with ROGERS Orchards being right there.
