  1. Past hour
  2. A bit colder this morning with a low of 47 degrees.
  3. Stomping is a waste of time and who wants bug guts all over your shoes? They will wreck havoc for a couple of years and then calm down whether you stomp them or not. There’s so many invasive plants, insects, and diseases that it’s not worth fighting it anymore. It’s a global habitat now because of humans. All of the continents would come back together in another 250M years anyway. One good thing about them is they love the invasive Tree of Heaven. So they can wipe that out while other animals learn to eat the lantern flies.
  4. First August at FWN reaching 45° since 2008. The station at the airport has been keeping records since 2000. The old COOP nearby has August records back to 1893 with some older years missing. The last 30s in August there was in 1997. Winter 2025-26

We are gonna find a way to fail to fail. Which means we are gonna win.

    Winter 2025-26

This. We have a winnah. This upcoming winter is gonnabe a winnah!
  7. Yeah, the trough to the east of Japan this February was the strongest since 2000 for the month. Most of the times in the past with very deep low pressure in this region there was also a trough in the Southeast. The jet stream extension from East Asia crossing the U.S. was extremely strong. So the big event in mid-February ran too far north through the Great Lakes when we had the 5SD Greenland block giving places like Toronto the record snowfall instead of the East Coast. Plus we got a Southeast Ridge this February when there wasn’t usually one in the past under the older configurations with deep low pressure east of Japan. The much stronger Pacific Jet and a robust Southeast ridge at storm time have both lead to the record low 7 year snowfall from Philly to Boston.
  8. Spotted lanternfly. Invasive species and seriously bad news for a lot of trees and crops.
  9. My go to strategy has always been to wait until just after sunset and put a full can of Raid (or whatever wasp and hornet spray I have on hand) down the hole. Works every time.
  10. Had a little rain shower overnight. At least the ground is damp. Hopefully we don't get Steined later on.
  11. ENE type day. Wild afternoon Ginx on East . West of there mainly Steiner
  12. Min 49.8° Spahn pitched Wednesday…Sain yesterday.
  13. Is it me or is this one of the cooler ends to August we've had in quite some time? Been chilly these mornings even in the City.
  14. Today
  15. We wet overnight. Little more on the doorstep now.
  16. Looks dry for the foreseeable future. If this continues through September we will end up in the same boat we were in with last fall’s drought
  17. Just got clipped by it, but will take what we can at this point.
  18. What he said actually doesn't make much sense. Moral intelligence vs. reasoning intelligence what?
  19. So who had THE coldest low in our sub yesterday morning? I dropped to 46 (45.5).
  20. I'm looking for September heat and not finding it for the NYC Metro Region. We get a little ridging for a day or two in the east with onshore winds. Warmest weather Sept 11-15 probably over the top. WX/PT
  21. That's a much nicer way of putting it than the terms I'd use.
