Central PA Winter 25/26 Discussion and Obs

Actually, I was going to ask about that. Does anyone have stats on cloudy vs sunny days? Besides the cold and wind, it seems like it's been exceptionally cloudy this winter. -
"Don’t do it" 2026 Blizzard obs, updates and pictures.

I'm happy with my 1/4" of snow and more happy for the people who got 35 to 40". I see lots of pictures of people posting snowbanks and drifts. I'm looking for a video clip of someone who is able to drive and just video a neighborhood that got that much. Cars and areas not plowed should be pretty much buried. It is a good way to really judge. Most social media posts want to show the highest snowbank or drifted area. I just one to see a longer, honest video in the ground zero area. If anyone has a link I would love to see it! -

You know as well as I do that we are going to get smacked by an unwanted 8" of cement in late April. -
since my dogs got used to walking on top of the other snow pack, they thought they could do the same this time, with disastrous results....poodle hair is like velcro for snow....

This sounds like fun, but as I work in commercial property insurance, all I can thin k about are collapsed roofs and trees on houses due to the weight. But 10/10 would love to see something like that, or a Buffalo lake effect firehouse in person before I kick the bucket. -
The original post and point remains…your call for back broken a couple weeks back was incorrect. That’s all. It’s ok to admit a mistake.

Crazy how widespread the 20"+ was with this storm in Suffolk. You can also see of areas around ISP with similar totals. 0310 PM 02/23 Cocorahs ...Suffolk County... We all know it is absolutely true, but when folks throw it into disco into Dec/Jan convos, while it might have a smidge of truth, its often snow haters overreaching IMO. We can read the room as to whos who in the love/hate relationship w/ snow. -
Wasn’t saying every single day was BN…but it’s been predominantly BN for the winter to date as a whole. Regardless of what happens the next two weeks(more snow or not), it’s been quite the winter season for all, regardless of if it warms up or not after 3/9.

Should be a fun morning for sure, except for those traveling. Also, some of the mesos are hinting at some potential squalls to move across northwest CT and Mass late afternoon or early evening with some very weak instability in place. Could see some spots pick up an additional 1-2" with those, albeit localized. -
All obs this year for me are from Fallston, MD - 11/30 - T 12/2 - A little frz rain to start - trees and car glazed - but 35 and rain for most of event 12/5 - T (dusting from a few hours of flurries as dry cold death air ate any chance of anything else north of BWI 12/14 - 4” 1/2 - .2" (frontal passage snow squall dealie 1/17 - .7" 1/18 - .5" 1/25 - 10" (six inches of snow pre-flip around 10 am and four inches of sleet on top - precipitation from 2 am until about 8 pm) 2/22 & 2/23 - 5.5" (rain flipped to snow around 3:30 pm on Sunday in Fallston and it snowed into the early morning hours of Monday) Running season total - 20.9”

27 / 14 near or sub freezing but bright sunshine should compact and melt some on the southwest facing areas. Mix / wet snow Tue into Wed. Then 5 days in the 40s and perhaps 50s (Saturday) will take its toll Wed - Sunday. Back colder to open March work week with the next strom potential looming 3/4 and a period as well of much below 48 hours arctic blast being hinted in the 3/4-3/6 period. Beyond there much warmer for the period 3/8 - mid month- first 60s - 70s could be in site but thats way into the beyond.

It was AN in NNE too. I can’t get down to county level lol.

On way to office, I saw snowmobile tracks in "normal" spots. There was enough that they were out last night. Surely not the best conditions, but enough. I thought about going for a rip tonight if it holds from todays cold....but theres that sun angle stuff n all so maybe not. We do have slightly more in Ephrata though. -
Already down to 10 to 12" snowpack. Amazing how the February sun and content of the snow is so different this time around
-
That’s the point….a few hundred miles always makes a difference in SNE…with almost everything. I hope this time you’re correct…let’s warm it up in a couple weeks.

ya usually.. but precip seems to be on the downward trend with this one.. that's why I'm not excited for it -
I thought my 16-18” measurements were off when I saw ISP’s almost 30” report, but I’m over here by ISP now and you can see the difference, the piles and drifts are generally much larger. Very difficult storm to measure, my numbers could still be off, I’ve seen similar totals reported close by, but also higher totals nearby. Very high impact storm either way.

Let’s melt it all in a few days and get a cutter on top of it.

Added another 3.5" to the tally last night for a total in the last 48 hours of 14.5". A local observation had 3.8" with only 0.09" QPF, giving a 42:1 SLR so it's obviously massless fluff. Still pretty tho and Wisp is back into good shape. Looking for another 3-5" tonight with the WWA hoisted so a nice snowy stretch as we approach meteorological spring.
