  1. Past hour
  2. Now next Tuesday is forecast to be hotter here than Friday because now Friday has a 60% chance of rain.
  3. Not everyone - in fact ...few do - know why
  4. what are the highest 7 year means for NYC and for JFK, Chris?
  5. GFS trying to get an EML in here next week and we'll have to watch for some days into the 90's with 70 dews
  6. All of this could have been summed up by saying giving a timetable to the question would have been better for the poll.
  7. 79 degrees out. Beautiful cool breeze while sitting in backyard. Gorgeous day.
  8. Wow we have double down here. 6.2" on the month. But vast majority of that was in 2 events earlier in the month.
  9. Oh, just wow. That is so frustrating. I did quite well yesterday and picked up .90", which brings the July total up to exactly 2.00". It looks like more today and tomorrow is quite likely up here.
  10. I expounded upon this exact concern. I think the original poll/question creation evinces a very superficial understanding - not just in the author, who may or may not have that limited awareness... (likely it's just poorly written). But I do find that elsewhere in society. A very linear and limited understanding in the general civilization, so much so that it doesn't lend to much 'intuitive' feel for crisis. It's incumbent upon the scientific community to learn a means to communicate the secondary ...nth degree causal feed-back depths that occur in complex systems in nature. This better sort of PR tact in bringing the perils of CC to the public eye was badly performed in the early days of this... The scientific tact was an attack on ways of life, ways of life multi-generation established and wholly dependent upon fossil fuels, both indirect and directly ... It just set the opposition table; not the understanding. It's been easy for Big OIl's counter-campaign, really, because of it. Now, denial itself is multi-generational.
  11. Unfortunately, we don’t have a long term continuous snowfall measurement record for a given spot in Somerset County. There are different COOP sites with varying length observation records. The longest continuous site is New Brunswick to your east. The current 7 year running mean snowfall is 15.9” ending in 2025. That is the 3rd lowest on record behind the 13.1” ending in 1933 and the 13.8” ending 7 year period in 1956. New Brunswick is doing better than Philly relative to the 7 year means. The Philly 7 year running average snowfall is 10.5” ending in 2025 is the lowest on record. This is below the previous record lowest 7 year snowfall average of 12.5” ending in 1933. The highest New Brunswick 7 year running mean snowfall was 39.6” ending in 1911. The 2nd highest was 38.2” ending in 2016. The highest Philly running 7 year snowfall average was 36.8” ending in 2016.
  12. This has been a nice respite from the heat and humidity. Unfortunately looks like it's cranking back up again starting tomorrow.
  13. Kind of outside of our normal "big severe" window. This is usually when we get stuck in pulse severe season. But yes - I agree. At range there's so many things that could temper the threat though. I have on eye on it for now - we'll see how things look as the weekend starts. I'll be watching the AI severe pages for trends.
  14. On a scale of 1-10, with one being on the cape in a soueaster and 10 being north of Tolland in a SWFE, how safe do you feel??
  15. "They also found that the more global warming a model simulated, the higher the likelihood was of abrupt shifts happening. At 1.5°C above average preindustrial temperatures, the target limit set by the Paris climate agreement, the researchers found that 6 out of 10 studied climate subsystems showed large-scale abrupt shifts across multiple models." https://phys.org/news/2025-07-abrupt-climate-shifts-global-temperatures.html
  16. Yup it’s a very short mild down in Aug. Rest of month is HHH with big WAR expansion and cane threat
  17. Congratulations! That is wonderful news, and my very best to your entire family. Wishing your grandson many, many years of health and happiness. Warning: the fun goes by oh so quickly...we welcomed our first granddaughter back in January 2022. Can't believe she's already cruising towards her 4th birthday. Both mom and dad work so my wife and I enjoy a lot of time with our little girl. Next month Pappy is taking her on her 1st trip to Disney World. Can't wait.
  18. Pretty cool journey this airmass took.
  19. First mow of the season where I was kicking up some dust. July totals here sit at 3.10”, most of that falling early in the month. Storms in the forecast for the weekend. 82F/DP 65F
  20. At least by that point, bums aren't quite as toasty in car seats...
