https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/md/md2218.html Mesoscale Discussion 2218 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0316 PM CDT Thu Sep 03 2026 Areas affected...Eastern Ohio into central Pennsylvania...western Maryland...and far northern West Virginia Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 649... Valid 032016Z - 032215Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 649 continues. SUMMARY...Supercells across eastern Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania will likely grow upscale and pose a more substantial wind threat downstream into central Pennsylvania through the evening. Downstream watch issuance is expected soon. DISCUSSION...Discrete to semi-discrete supercells are evident in regional radar imagery across northeast OH and northwest PA with a few instances of severe hail noted over the past hour. Regional VWPs continue to sample elongated hodographs favorable for splitting supercells with an attendant threat for large hail for the next hour or so. Given the propensity for splitting cells and tight clustering of convection, upscale growth into one or more organized lines appears probable over the coming hours. As this occurs, the potential for severe wind should increase as convection moves into central PA where air mass recovery has been ongoing through the afternoon (MLCAPE has increased to 1000-1500 J/kg per recent mesoanalysis estimates). ..Moore.. 09/03/2026 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product... The models suck. Just retire them all and wing it. Go back to the LFM and start over. -

It’s a COC weekend for ACATT. For 99.5% of everyone else it’s kind of meh, but at least Sunday looks ok. Saturday might be decent inside 495. -
there is currently a small rotation that's not that far from Wyandotte Michigan (Michsnowfreak) -- 11miles southwest
-
It’s quite muggy. And gross out. So probably that haha
-
.005 for the line that dried up coming out of PA. Been sunny for the last couple of hours, high of 76.3 for the day so far.
-
Thanks for this. I sent radar image of that line and sent to friends saying this was the storms to watch for later

Local news did a good job mentioning the risk for later tonight in the brief weather hit. Hopefully people pay attention.

I absolutely hate canadian air and blue bird skies. Reminds of fall and another boring weather periods. If it's gonna be cooler, the sky needs to least be filled with cumulus congestis to keep hopes alive and promote the top water bite. -
I agree he’s a major blowhard and not a nice person, and he’s been dead wrong on several things (including claiming “Heat Dome” is a recent term used primarily by alarmists and first claiming this disaster was caused by an earthquake). However, I don’t think it’s a waste of time to post his stuff as especially Don and I have done the last few months. Because he’s been widely read/quoted in recent months, he often shows data to support his posts (whether misleading or not), and is smart/well spoken/pretty clear communicator, I think his posts should be addressed here whether in disagreement or not. A person like him who many here including myself have strongly disagreed with at least some of the time is the perfect person to bring into the forum to make for robust discussion and the debating of differing viewpoints. To avoid people with very different views tends to make forums like this and others closer to an echo chamber. The most interesting forums aren’t afraid to consider major differences of opinion and debate them. Also, it’s good to be open-minded as I feel I am on most topics. On this topic, I’m very open-minded.

I was working at the Old Guilford Courthouse in Greensboro in the summer of 1977 That old giant Bank thermometer near us hit 100 a lot. I also remember the Greensboro paper running an article about a string of farms that got popup thunderstorms nobody else in the County Got-about 5 times. They were embarrassed to be so lucky while the rest of the county crops burned up
