5:30am update on the monster coming off the Glaks.

Who could sleep through what I experienced during the night? Continuous lightning for hours, thunder and heavy rain at times. Almost 2" fell since 11:45pm.

The storm a couple of days ago was a light show with little rain for me but this one is a definite and almost continuous sound and light show for the past 3 hours. Currently have 0.83" total after an initial round 1 of 0.67". Temp dp both 69.

Storm came through around. Lots kf thunder and heavy rain.

The storm that came through here early this morning was highly electrified. Almost non stop loud cracks of thunder. Picked up 0.53". 1.24" since yesterday.

I took the snapshot below at 4:36am The nam brings this newly developed complex over the lakes through western Pa The rrfs and hrrr target Cpa,with some pretty potent storms later this morning with that same Lake Erie complex.

Seems like parts of the Detroit area have seen at least several inches of rain from tonight's round, and possibly more on the way...

The 18z ECMWF operational is more gradual with Lowell's northward turn and is slower with the capture of both Karina and eventually Lowell by the mid-to-upper trough. Lowell passes by at a further distance from Ni'ihau and Kauai before turning back towards the NW as the trough fills/weakens. The 00z GFS is much faster with Karina's capture, and the trough has a stronger influence on Lowell, impacting both islands. To be clear, at this range, both OPs are too close for comfort, and I am sure this is going to further fuel speculation tomorrow. Here is the 00z ECMWF. Still misses to the west, but it appears to be a closer pass than the 18z run:

Congrats PA as usual. That will just bring us clouds all day Thursday to cap any chance of anything interesting. I've heard thunder like twice this summer. Most boring thunderstorm season i can remember.

And that Elba NY unreal HP supercell Wed. Look at the radar loop. Classic splitting and merging supercells and then a raging SQLN same area right after? Again, WCWGT???? At least NW flow is living up to is name for nasty cells somewhere in the NEUS.
