Hi... I'm not going into details since time and my age h75 ave lost a little of the edge. From Northeast Snowstorms V2 Kocin and Uccellini. Dec 10-12 1992 was huge... Mar 11-13 was the Eastern USA Superstorm The Newark Climate Data below describes what happened at Newark Airport... Inland colder and snowier. Coast winds, seas and tides were enormous Dec 10-12 while a snowstorm raged interior. Hope this helps

Also featured the worst standing wave of subsidence in RI I have ever seen. Cory nearly did himself in.

I have fond memories of Veterans Day 1987. I start my tracking around this time. Rare, but it can snow. I was at Univ. of MD in the bullseye.

We had 2 that winter. December was a coastal rainstorm that lasted 3 days

My kids both learned remotely and were fine. I think this is overblown

One of my all-time favorite storms. I was in third grade at school. I was in Crownsville. I still remember the building shaking thunder and ripping snow. I got stuck at school most of the night. We had 13" in the lowlands. PG/AA County's jacked.

This time of year is a bonus imo. I drive out to South Mountain or the Catoctins for the day. I like hiking around in the snow all day. Then I drive 1.5 hours back to the lowlands where it's 47 and rainy lol. It makes winter seem longer. I get it though. 3-4" during January followed by 60 degree weather is lame. I'll still take it though lol

Yeah part of me wonders how ptype issues would translate. But a low that far south usually wouldn’t be bad 925-850. -

Change the 3-4ft to 3-4 inches of slop and knock everyone else down a category. -

I would have been porked, would be better at the old house. -
Hopefully enough for widespread first freeze at least.

Never played football? And have you noticed our temperatures lately? I used to play a little football here or there when it was like 20 degrees outside with bare hands. Mid 40s is actually quite comfortable for exercise and sports.

So the Sun rising at 4AM in summer is what's natural? We have so much artificial light that "what's natural" is meaningless. Just having the lights on, watching TV and being on your phone completely negates any benefit from having standard time year round. The only natural rhythm is the one of equatorial regions if we are going to go the evolutionary route.

Nov. 11, 1987, I received 6 inches with drifting. I am fine with a 6" paste job in mid November. This anomaly gets my attention. If you're bored of 6" paste jobs in mid November, you must live in Copper Harbor, Mich.

Wait, I thought the Nor'easter was in mid-March 1993, not December 1992. I was 4-and-a-half, but I remember my sister being born (12/29/92) and then baptized (in January 93) first, before the huge snowstorm, which I think happened on 3/13/93 (when she was 2.5 months old). I do remember my mom telling me about a storm the night before my sister was born (12/28/92), but it missed us well to the south. I think NC got an ice storm, and the Delmarva area might have gotten snow.

my guess is we'll be having this same EDT/EST discussion 5 yrs from now-there's no one way everyone will agree on so bet on the status quo

Sports and after school activities prohibit how much school hours can be adjusted, especially for fields that don't have lights, which are still many. You also have to take into account travel from one school to the next. Also bussing schedules

Yeah I have to agree. IMO the two biggest causes for Gen Z’s academic struggles were remote learning during COVID and cellphone use in school.

Its a personal preference, just like you like it bright later. Yeah, this month sucks leaving in the dark, but then its bright again when we change it back in 2 weeks. I don't want it dark for months. I can take 1 month.
