NWS Damage Survey for 08/13/2026 Downburst Wind Event...

Straight-line Downburst Confirmed from Milford CT to East Haven Ct Peak Wind (observed and estimated): 85-105 mph.

These winds resulted in an approximately 8.5 mile long by up to 1.1 mile wide path of intermittent severe tree and powerlines damage, collateral damage to homes and automobiles, as well as destruction of 2 building structures.

Brief shower popped as boundaries collided. Lasted about 5 min but came down in large drops

Managed to get missed north , east , and south today . Last chance is that line NW of ALB and see if holds together which doesn’t seem likely

I’m in the middle of tobacco harvest and the drizzle was enough of a concern for “trailers” that were loaded and outside getting wet that we had to bring them all inside and work around them.

Rain sucks when you’re doing massive harvest of anything.

Sounds like Connecticut Shade Tobacco? I have enjoyed many cigars wrapped in it.

Not sure which would do this first, but I know they would do it for different reasons!  @CoastalWx would do it b/c he pines for snow, and @weatherwiz would b/c he is just happy getting hail!

Perhaps a rain shower/sprinkle or two Monday AM.  Models widely display this theme and I think we'll see the ground wet  Maybe not all locales, esp. underneath trees etc.

Where's the cold coming from?  Models are going to bias too cool 90% of time in warm-season, at least at medium range and ofc especially beyond.  almost too easy at this point

But yeah, mostly just brief warmups between COC shots. I wouldn’t call it cold though. Summer and the sun angle are quickly fleeting though.

Looks slightly above to above normal thru the 31st. The coming week cool vanished. Something to keep in mind moving forward

Shade has died out, became too expensive to grow here.
