Meh... should be watched.

It fits the collapse of the cold S motif that's been in place since October... I don't sense the hemisphere's escaped that annoyance.  I mean LOL it's not annoying in January when ferreting for snow chances ... but sure as shit it is nearing the equinox and one's heart is elsewhere.  

Anyway, in the spirit of objectivity a blue spring snow isn't ridiculous in this pattern foot.  Would like to see the EPS machinery at least better

2.9 inches for KSLC all winter… they average 47” by now. The low to mid elevations of the Wasatch are probably even more anomalously horrible. Major major water supply and wildfire concerns across most of the American SW this summer/fall

And didn't a part of that 2.9 inches fall relatively recently (like a few weeks ago?). 

Yeah the wildfire concerns are going to be sky high. Can only hope that maybe in April there will be a break with some troughs digging into the West and at least bring some precipitation chances but its very concerning seeing such a ridge becoming established this early. Obviously its going to break down at some point but the concern is it builds right back in quickly.

Agreed. But the point was they were so completely buried beyond belief, so having almost nothing almost makes sense to average it out.  But ya, feel sorry for them.

Reading the critical drought story on 25 Boston makes me wonder if they think we are in the middle of a severe summer drought! Not mid- March?  Banning outdoor water use, etc... Sounds kinda crazy!

I think though that was more in the Sierras where that happened (2022-2023 winter?). But outside of that winter I think the West has had some serious "snow droughts" over the past several years. I say that kind of loosely because below average for some of the ski areas still can produce 200" of snow lol but I'm pretty sure many of those areas have been hurting YoY.
