This is why I was upset because they didn’t even give the other side of the argument even after several models were suggesting that a big ice event was not in the cards. They didn’t need to hug the Euro quite that hard. There was more wiggle room in their forecast. This was a complex set up to lock into freezing rain exclusively.

I think we finished around 3/4” IP and maybe 0.15-0.20” ZR. Underwhelming but impactful. Below freezing since 5 am yesterday though we have shot up to 30.1

One last post from DFW.  Thought we were done here and yet, the best looking snow I have seen is falling now than from the whole event.   We have had flurries off and on  all day.   Not sure how much if any of this makes it y’all’s way.  
 

i am glad most of you managed to dodge major freezing rain.

At 7:40 PM EST, 4 ENE Clemmons [Forsyth Co, NC] Trained Spotter reports Sleet of 2.30 Inch. A trained spotter reported an event total of 2.3 inches of mainly sleet and some snow southwest of Winston Salem.

In the heat of the moment the triad went from 21° to 28°.  Now I'm back down to 27°.  Crazy stuff.

The wind shifted and the wedge broke down all at once. Pretty neat.

As annoying/underwhelming as this storm was, it was incredibly interesting to watch the wedge do what we thought and then the breakdown was just as dramatic

Heck of a storm just south of CLT in Rock Hill. I’ve been down here for 13 years, originally from the DC area. While we were in the dry slot for a majority of the storm, this has easily been one of the coldest storms we’ve seen; that CAD was stout and didn’t want to let go. Ended up with about an inch of sleet, and a solid coating of freezing rain from the final line. I’m sure this was a tough one for meteo’s as it was for us enthusiasts, but they were more than transparent about the severity of what could have been! Just now getting power back, this could have been what the folks of northern MS are currently going through. Prayers to them and everyone involved!

Roads are possibly the worst I’ve ever seen here. Sheet of ice on base and the grainy sleet caved to ZR at the end so really just a sheet of ice

Mid-day today before the slight warm-up I measured 1/8" of freezing rain here in the western suburbs of ATL. Kind of a disappointment waking up, but at least we got some before the precip dried out in the early morning.
