Tiny pellets of graupel(?) or snow(?) less than half a mm across have broke through the surface in very limited amounts. Visibility remains in excess of 10 miles. Starting out at a frigid 16F with a DP of 9F. Winds about 7 mph from the NNE.

EDIT: The column has flipped to being ready dramatically. Visibility is collapsing to a few miles and flurries are falling and accumulating on all surfaces.

Snowing in Chattanooga… roofs and cars covered already

Great to here.  I am really rooting for you guys down there.  I lived my whole childhood in Cleveland through my college years, and we were the one area of TN that would get shafted so many times.  We're going to believe you guys are going to score big.

Pretty concerned about the train of moisture that has set up along the southern border. It seems that was poorly modeled. It's fine as snow, but I don't think we will be able to maintain 850 temps capable of supporting snow for much longer.

Just now, Uncle Nasty said:

Down to 28° with all snow in Ooltewah. Hoping we can hang on long enough for a dusting just to cover the grass at least. 32163cd2c07c43531b8c6b32683e5c18.jpg

28 here as well. Still hanging on to a few snowflakes, but I'm back to mostly sleet.

My wife went to Chattanooga last night for a comedy show and I finally got a hold of her this morning to get her on the road. She thought they would have more time, but I told her if they don't get out soon they might be stuck there until tomorrow. I looked at the TDOT cameras and roads still look good down there, but it's slowing down on the scenic overlook on 75 and the sides of the roads are already white from there to Cleveland.

Currently 24.6 up on wardens ridge between dunlap and soddy. Strangley enough we warmed up 5 degrees from 4-430 am then dropped back to 24 quickly

Mostly sleet but every now and then we get a burst of snow.

Sure looking like we will get a decent icing soon, hoping the impacts are not catastrophic over a large area. We would be a low priority to getting power back.

I have a generator hooked to 500 gallon propane tank but we have had a lot of Californian's build dream houses around us this year and not one of them have planned it appears.
