How are we warm the first 10 days of the month ? I mean beer? It’s in the teens and 20’s for highs thru Tuesday . That’s Jan 6th. Maybe after that a few milder days but to say the first week of Jan is warm when it’s WBN is simply wrong

Warming. Not warm. It gets pretty warm after 1/7

Who said first week? Seems like after the 7th we go AN for several days.

I’ve seen several posts here that says the first 10 days of the month are warming. It’s WBN they day 7. It’s a few days after the first 10 days

We’ve been about 3-5 degrees below average for most of the winter; 40+ with no wind is going to feel like a torch.

Happy New Year! Here are 2025's weather numbers for my location:

Average Temperature: 42.0° F
High Temperature: 85.6° F (6/24)
Low Temperature: -7.5° F (1/22)
Total Precipitation: 60.10"
Total Snowfall: 147.1"

Not a terribly exciting year weather wise and no real extremes, but a bit cooler overall than the past few. Just for reference, 2024's average temperature was 44.2° F. Rainfall was measured with a Stratus rain gauge, snowfall according to CoCoRaHS protocol.

It's the second week.

With the warmup ensuing after the first week and little qpf in the offing, it's starting to look to me like January may be a lost cause.  The upcoming pattern doesn't appear very favorable.  These little quick shots aren't going to do it.

First half is a lost cause, which isn't news to me, but it sucks that most squandered December (I know it was great for CT...I get it).

Not sure it was “great” anywhere. Maybe near CT south shore they best snowfall climo by a decent amount due to 12/26-27. But pretty much everywhere else was normal to BN on snowfall despite the cold temps. But I’ll give December a little bump up in grade because the little snow we got stayed on the ground much of the month and we snuck in a white Xmas too. So it was a nice holiday feel. But all that is now mostly useless to me after new years so we better start getting some meatier storms.

I wouldn’t call a season total  13.3” great . And actually it was a little over 10” as most fell after midnight last night . SW CT and WOR had a snowy month

Well on our way to another season in the 30’s for snow in SNE . How many in a row will this be? Expected but still sucks

With 3 losses, Alabama shouldn't even be in this playoff.  They got in because of their name and past history.  They will soon have 4 losses.

Notre Dame, BYU, and Texas didn’t deserve it either. The bottom of the rankings weren’t great. Just go to 16 and call it a day.

-2.0/-7 WC -16

FCS, DII, and DIII all have 16 team playoffs that have worked well over the years

They should’ve never gone past 4. But I get that they want the ratings.

30s over the interior when many of us are at double digits so far? It’s not like we’re all sitting at 4” like some of these other years. I do worry about the Niña February but we’ll see about the second half of this month.

I see no way we get anywhere near the 60” average here . I’ll be very surprised if it’s 40”. I was planning on a subpar winter snow wise so it’s not surprising . But it still sucks to live thru . The fast flow / N PAC issue has screwed us again

You’ve had a higher % of fake snow compared to normal too. What’s the pack at after compaction and wind today?
