Wonder if we’ll see the back bays here frozen over. Probably given the duration of the cold and that every night should be in the teens and single digits some nights.

Back bays are easy.  I want to see the sound freeze again.  That was very cool in 2015.  Posed out on the ice with my wife and it looked like we were standing on the Antarctic ice sheet.

Huntington Harbor will freeze easily. Same with Northport harbor. There’s a chance Northport bay freezes as well. I’ve never seen Huntington bay frozen and I’m not sure we get cold enough.

Yep-I remember how much ice I saw on Reynolds Channel in Jan 2004 and being amazed, it really resembled the Arctic. Would be awesome to see that again.

The water at Kings Point is either right at the freezing point (for western LI Sound salinity) or already frozen.  Bridgeport and New Haven are getting close:

I love snow but I hate driving in it and trying to find parking. Its a pain in the ass. People are double parking and parking in weird ways.

Its a big mess

Took almost 10 minutes just to drive down my street to Jericho Turnpike this morning. I live on a narrow curvy street and the snow banks plus school buses made it ridiculous.

Of the mesos available on TT, FV3 and RGEM seem to have the best handle on where there is precipitation right now (18z).  Both give a coating to most of us this afternoon.  Not saying I believe it, but they are off to a good start.

Its legit light snow up here in central Orange County right now.

amazing how many people (in general) don't know the difference b/w Freezing rain, sleet and hail

funny i was at the supermarket this morning and everyone who worked there was bragging how they have their own met, one of the cashiers who has a degree....rutgers....we got to talking and he was surprised i knew the terminology so well...i told him i am one of the most ignorant posters on here when it comes to the science, but i know the lingo pretty well by now...we talked miller a's vs miller b's, he said this weekend could be a miller a, and he really wanted to get into broadcasting. rutgers is a solid program. the historical importance of this recent snow and sleetfest i think, was lost on a lot of us; they are still having trouble with cleanup all over cnj.

it's a mess here too even today-large snowbanks, sidewalks still uncleared-most schools had a 2 hr delay or closure today
