BS. It's a max of 41 per the Weatherflow stations along the Barnegat and LBI barrier islands. Car thermometers are terrible. They'll be reading 105 when it's in the low 99s

Have no reason to BS anyone. That was at 1245.  It is still at this moment 43.  I never trust my vehicle for accuracy unless my marina office weatherflow and my handheld are the same.   It got very warm this afternoon with the SW'erlies.

Need wind to swing. Screenshot_20251213_162057_Chrome.thumb.jpg.4bf35e35657461ea834d667c0593f984.jpg

First big win of the winter for the AI models.  Plowable coast.  AIFS in particular did well in digging the SW and turning the trough more neutral vs positive a couple days back.

Chances NYC gets 3 inches, 50 percent?

Cant ask for much more in terms of early season snowfall on the coast.   Had 37 degree water temps inside the inlet.  42 one mile off, and 48 seventeen miles off where we were fishing.   Friends that went deep dropping in the Tom's Canyon earlier in the week still touched 58-60 in several spots.

Grateful this isnt an onshore wind setup, with the early season warm (relatively) warm water.  Hope everyone gets to enjoy, and get some pictures with the snow and christmas lights/decorations.

My station out at Fire Island popped up to the 40s earlier.  Since 2:00 PM when the wind subsided and backed around from SW to W the air temperature has dropped 6 degrees to 36 and the DP down 4 degrees to 31.  No big ocean warming looks to happen at this point.

"it will bring its own cold air with it" there, i said it so no one else has to. and, i wouldn't count on it, i never do....let's see how it unfolds. been around long enough to see forecasts completely turn around, for good and bad....

i was outside doing yard work with just a shirt jacket, but the ground was still frozen and so were the raised beds. snow should stick nice.

we had a crap season; too much wind, stripers were skittish, porgies were only in the sound, sea bass got picked over in a week. friend is thinking of calling it quits, we've been at it since 1982.....and porgies going for a staggering 12.99 a pound at wegman's.....with those kinds of prices, it won't be long before we have a 3 fish limit with a closed season, so the netters can have their fill.....

We certainly live in a different time.  Had a banner striper season ourselves, but took a licking on many days.  They closed BFT down insanely fast, but we continued to fight, tag, revive, and release.  Had an insane morning do so today.   Put a 3 man limit of tog together on the way in, and still have bass rolling all over the surface beyond the 3 mile line on herring, sand eels, and cupcake size bunker.

Things are definitely on the downturn with some fisheries though.  Bay Bay fluking, stellar, but not consistent.  Anyway, back to weather.  Gonna be a long winter.  Pulling the big boat on Thursday.  Hope all has been well.

we had some good days on the porgies by going up and making the run to long island sound, and a few good days in the spring on sea bass. we do not like tossing shads and jigs all day for bass and we do not like the new regs. used to blackfish under the verrazano and fill a cooler. as for tuna, i actually used to work the deck with one of the guys from wicked tuna back in the 80s. the less said the better, but you can figure out who he is. he made a lot more money on tv than he ever made fishing. i'm looking forward to some nice holiday photos tomorrow. cheers.

All stations will be trying to break the 12/14/03 daily record tomorrow.  Not sure any do it, will need over 4.5 to do so except for JFK

we had one big one in either 02 or 03 in december, like 14 inches ; it was a friday
