It's really easy to rewind that @Blizzard of 93 .There's usually only a couple screws to get to pulley and you just gotta make sure your recoil spring doesn't pop out.  Generally on newer equipment it's in caseed or attached to the pulley already.  Winding back up tying a few knots, putting it all back together is pretty self explanatory. You also want to make sure you use starter rope and not just any old nylon rope.   If you're in a pinch and don't have time before another storm., I would definitely pick up the starter rope and do it for you at no cost ,  but it's really easy even if you never done it before.

I realized the word easy is subjective, but i'm pretty confident that it is. As a landscaper, I break my pulll starters several times a year, I can pull out a pulley, rewrap it, and put it back in with my eyes closed.

500s at 84 were notably better and digging for gold....white gold (but thats me extrapolating).

BIG difference from 18z

Gonna try to stay up for GFS to see if its the lead dog or not.  

I may be rather tired by this weekend, but man this is fun.

It is not exact, but it has some similarities to the “surprise” January 24-25, 2000 coastal. The H84 NAM 500mb map is closely similar to the 12z Jan 24 2000 500mb re-analysis. That storm dumped heavy snow in the Carolinas and Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and I remember eastern PA got between 8-14”

GFS west - not much in PA but  it’s west of 18z 

RGEM was west so we can assume the CMC will be. 

Nam was primed to be way west 

If the Euro moves west we’re getting a wind storm with a few inches of snow.

Didn't get nearly as cold as I had anticipated this morning. It was 7°F when I left Three Springs. My car showing 5°F currently in Philipsburg.

Busted high this morning with 11 at the house and 7 through the rurals. The next three nights look like the peak. Amtrak canceled its first train this morning. Streets are a mess here in Mount Joy. Love the chaos. Let’s bring on some more this weekend (I have not checked any modeling recently).

The river by MDT is completely indistinguishable from the surrounding terrain. Just pure frozen tundra.

I could only find one Chester County station that fell to below zero this morning and that was our usual cold spot up in Warwick Township with a low of 2.6 below zero. Almost all spot saw lows in the single digits above zero. If anything, we get progressively colder the rest of this week with highs through Saturday several degrees lower than yesterday. Highs will be in the mid to upper teens with lows near zero to below. The potential weekend storm still looks like it will miss our area to the east toward the NJ shore but will need to be watched for any potential changes.

I just drove to work and wow....if you didn't know it, you might think the storm had just ended.  The combination of all the sleet with the extreme cold has really locked everything into place.
