Snow began at 5 am with 32 degrees.

8:30-  30.9 degrees with moderate snow and .70".

My 4 model blend is 3 inches and Kuchera is 5.0"

Kuchera may be more accurate because GFS and NAM say 850mb  14 F at 1 pm which gives a ratio of 15 - 20: 1

They probably cancelled class to lick the wounds from Saturday.  Man, that 96 yard drive was magic and then just to lose it in OT.  I have been rooting for the Hoos since 76, but have kids at JMU, so I guess that helps the loss a bit, but only a bit.

Great spot. Boardwalks thru the marshy ponds are cool and interesting. Always a blast finding shark teeth on the beach. I've never gone home empty handed and some years ago while chapperoning an elementary trip I found 10 and gave them away to the kids. Have a hunch they all remember that day still.

Snow finally picking up enough here to start sticking. Pretty windy out there so sideways snow at times. I live for days like this lol

Snow started in the 5 o’clock to 6 o’clock range. Steady snow now at 31° and dropping. It's windy as heck, so this is fun to watch!  About 1 inch so far.

Snowing fairly nicely in Spotsylvania at work at the moment. Flakes are decent size, only accumulating on colder surfaces/grass however.

Somewhere between 1 and 2 OTG at 9 am, still a moderate snow, but flakes are dimes instead of the quarters falling earlier. 31.5/30.1. The high end maps from Blacksburg NWS are LOL!

Change from light rain to pixie flakes in Downtown RVA.  Hoping it should make for a nice scene on Kanawha Plaza, where they put the tree up and stuff, will post a pic, when it looks worthy.

Anyone know how accurate the 15 minute HRRR is? It shows a really nice blossoming of the precip shield around 1pm which would be awesome.

Flag Ponds isn't what it used to be a decade ago- the erosion has been extreme. Last I heard, DNR is working with the county on a plan, but I'm sure Calvert will screw it up like they do everything else. I won't derail with anymore SOMD banter, but I'd caution anyone from making a long drive to go there, especially if you like beach lol

IME, it's not very accurate with pinpoint stuff during snowstorms. Hourly runs are kinda jumpy. I personally don't like it much during the winter as it's often more misleading that other mesos like the 3k nam at close range. It can be good with summer thunderstorms. Especially lines of them but even then it can be jumpy beyond 6-8 hrs. Since i don't follow it much I could easily be wrong and it may be more reliable than i think.

End of the HRRR run looks like it gets the coastal cranking earlier which enhances precip back towards Richmond later today. Maybe a trend to watch.

Just saw the dew points crash in northern Maryland. Wonder if this is the arctic front trying to press south and set up some better convergence? Perhaps the HRRR is trying to pick up on this down your way?

Yeah I think that's exactly what's happening, also related to why this storm came further north than it was supposed to a few days ago. The HP seems to have been slower getting into place than originally modeled. 

You can see the dry air eating away the returns on the northern side as it's pushing South. The 3k NAM has precip eroding all the way back to 64 at one point this afternoon before the coastal takes over, but I'm choosing to ride the HRRR lol

Slow start here but steady mod snow now. Closing in on an inch but not there yet. Looks like the next 3-4 hours will be the bulk of the heaviest snowfall for me. 5" seems like a stretch though. 3-4" seems reasonable
