It seems like for the past 4 years this has been the theme...at what point is it bad luck vs the new norm?

The mid atlantic has had little trouble getting shortwaves to dig through their region. It’s just bad luck.

Pretty remarkable differences in look and feel from PSM down to eastern LI.

snow blowers and ice melt vs green grass and leaf blowers.

Traveling 150 miles looks and feels more like 600.

It’s November to the south, early January to the north.

For my location, it means winter’s grip, currently, isn’t that strong at all—warm sectors will not be strongly defended against…

The referenced map is more than just what the last storm brought. There’s a completely different seasonal vibe north/south of that line.

Well snow vs no snow is a different vibe so yeah?

Well at some point things have to change. My son had a nice frustrating moment looking at the models. Just looked at the euro and said this is BS. Couldn’t even be mad at the cursing. Proud daddy moment. I just looked at him and said welcome to my youth. Just be glad you were around for some biggies since I had none until high school.

I mean, 60 degrees on Christmas Eve certainly beats cold, wind, and bare ground.

If it’s not going to snow I’ll take a few nice days. Sign me up

On Christmas? In 2015 when it was humid and 70, I was sweating my balls off. I’ll pass on that.

No it’s more than that. Past three day we’re running like 5F-7F colder.

As I said, there’s been a very significant seasonal gradient persistent for more than just one storm/pack.

Highs past three days:

PSM: 23, 34, 36

Islip NY: 36, 45, 46

Still BN there in Islip though.

Really? So everybody around you in every direction gets snow, but SNE doesn’t, and that’s the new norm?  Laughable. Fast flow or not, everybody/every area seems to benefit from it…but SNE?  That’s just Bad frieken luck.

Richmond VA will probably have a seasons worth of snow by mid week. Fast flow doesn’t seem to be hurting them? Mid west is buried. Plains buried. This was the 80’s. They sucked for winter, and They’re back.  2-4” in the 80’s was a good storm. 3-6” was very significant.  And 4-8”’was a HECS.  Well 40 plus years later we’ve come full circle.  Embrace the suck.  At some point it will change…and swing back. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

lol I know right what a weird post it happens every year, the snow vs no snow line has to be somewhere

I’m convinced you guys don’t go outside at all and look at the world around you.

Sad.

“Meteorologists”— just model junkies tied to computers with no bearing of observations.

So what’s your point? That Portsmouth is colder than Long Island? Lol…that’s a shocker.  I get your saying that there’s a gradient, but the fact that SNE can’t seem to get some precip in here, isn’t a temp problem imo.

Every single modeled torch going back to October has muted or vanished. Gotta figure that happens again Xmas

I’m thinking you’re correct on this matter. And if it is mild…it won’t last very long it looks like from that prog.  But that’s 384 hrs away.

The leaf blowers never stop here.  Green grass, ice storm, deep snow cover, nuclear winter; it doesn't matter.  The sound of leaf blowers here is analogous to the sound of rushing water near Niagara falls.

Thank you. Some of these people are living in an alternate reality.  Sucks we’ve been whiffing…but it ain’t like this hasn’t happened before. But you’d swear by some of these posts that were in the twilight zone.

Maybe The pope should take a drive to VA…he’ll think he’s at the Arctic circle.

The Pope calling out our Mets when he makes silly trolling posts. Compares PSM to ISP LOL that's a new one. Its almost like he has no clue what climo is.

This.

And others saying what a horrid winter it’s been….wtf? Winter hasn’t even begun.  And yes, it will suck to waste all this good cold, but everybody aground us is gonna be balls deep in the white stuff…so maybe take a ride and see it.  And Something should pop..let’s see what happens over the next week or so. All you can do is keep swinging, eventually we’ll make some solid contact.

Lay of the drugs man, we all know the weather all around, it’s been stated dozens of times the last 24 hours , yet it’s breaking news to you.
