I’ve been very busy all summer and fall, but I’ll be getting back to posting regularly again now that we’re heading into the winter. At any rate first flakes of the season arrived here today. Nothing on the ground though here at the house, at least so far. Very potent snowband has been working the I-80 corridor from about Dubois to Clearfield and now stretching into Centre County and the Bellefonte/State College area. Of particular note is the stretch of I-80 from Dubois (Exit 97) to about the Penfield exit (Exit 111). Looks to be traffic issues there, especially east bound. This band is Huron connected as well, which is enhancing it further. I’ll bet some spots end up with up to 3”, perhaps even a bit more where the heaviest part of the band has trained the most. That band looks quite impressive and nearly stationary. I remember once in I think 2007 when I was a PSU undergrad we had one of those Huron connected snow bands park overhead and dump 5" of fluff that was gone by the next day since it was in March. Otherwise lots of frustration with those being on the downslope side of the Allegheny Ridge.

CarlislePaWx
Good morning all, from sunny, windy, and "frigid" Florida! My stay (Jensen Beach, East Central, Huthchinson Island South) down here is slowly coming to a close. I've been here for one month and will be here until a week from Friday. The vast majority of the days have been at least partly sunny with afternoon temps in the low to mid 80's and dew points in the low to mid 70's...that is, until today. My temperature has dropped to a low of 47.1 degrees. Currently it's up to 47.8 degrees with winds 10-15mph gusting to 25. This combination is creating a wind chill of about 40 degrees F! Talk about a temperature shock! Sunday afternoon it was 83 degrees with a dew point of 75. That combination was producing a heat index of 88 degrees. So, between 88 on Sunday and 40 this morning (H I / W C) that difference is nearly 50 degrees. @Itstrainingtime, you would be so proud of me. Our heat is not working, and I woke up to an indoor temperature of 63 degrees!! Normally, it would be 72 degrees at home. Fortunately, I brought sweats with me for the just-in-case scenario playing out this morning. The inside should slowly warm up by this afternoon to I hope, at least 70...haha! That's it for now. I'll be posting again from home after the 24th. Bye for now.

Although, it's time for a confession - I might have turned my heat on last night when I went to bed. It was already down to 60 in the house and I was getting looks from my wife... 1

ChescoWx
Last night before midnight was our first below freezing temperature here in East Nantmeal since back on April 9th. That ends our freeze free growing season here in NW Chester County at 215 days. In the last 22 years the growing season has ranged from a few as 174 days in 2020 to 233 days in both 2005 and 2024. The earliest first freeze was October 13, 2012 and the latest November 23rd 2015. There has been some occasional snow flurries around the area today with temperatures remaining well below normal for mid-November with highs in the upper 30's. In fact, our high temperatures should stay below normal through the rest of the work week with highs remaining in the 40's in the hills and near 50 degrees in the valleys. We warm up well into the 50's by Sunday with rain chances increasing by then.

Voyager
Nothing snow-wise here in Tamaqua, but I saw quite a bit of it from Scranton and north on 81. The roads got rough for a bit up there. I went to Waverly NY, and saw two rollover wrecks. A pick up truck on its roof in the median, and a car on its side in a ditch. Also a few spinouts into walls on the bridges.

I was estimating from the windshield of a Mack truck, but I mentioned in my upcoming video that it looked like at least 2 inches along I-81.
