WeatherGeek2025
I got an idea, why not install big vacuums way below the surface lets say 500 feet below surface and bring all the water back up to the surface since the water at 500 below is much colder and bring all the colder water up to the surface. Power these vacuums with wind power. install let's say 50 of them and see if it makes the water cooler!

Volcanic Winter
Managed to time getting to Iceland this year during a crazy blizzard in the capital! Felt very similar to a nor’easter of yesteryear, but not as much wind (surprisingly). This was just a gentle but very steady and heavy snowfall, I mean on our balcony I counted 17 inches. They claim a bit less “officially” I think, but I definitely saw amounts up to 20ish walking around Reykjavik at the end. https://www.icelandreview.com/news/reykjavik-snow-depth-may-set-early-winter-record-expert-says-photo-gallery/ https://imgur.com/a/SDxRGlR

NorthShoreWx
It seemed like it got dark very early tonight. This weekend's time change is going to be very noticeable. Remembering dark cloudy December days when the street lights kick in at 3pm. Hopefully some frozen from those clouds. Not complaining; I like those kinds of days in December. They do start to lose their appeal towards spring. 3

Just wondering... Has DT even NOT been bullish for December and January? I do not think I have ever read one of his outlooks for winter where he said it would be mild and miserable for snow lovers. I'm very worried about the Pac jet, so we will see.

Everyone is bullish for next month and early January. Its the end of January through March that we have to watch out for a crappy pattern.

The CPC and Weather Channel are not bullish on winter in the northeast at all yet. I remain skeptical. I think we will see more snow than the past few years, but that is not a tall order to do. I think we are going to have quick snaps of cold and then moderating throughout December and January. Looking at the continent as a whole so far we are well behind the 8-ball. Fingers crossed we can make up for it.

Tar Heel Snow
I just moved up here from central NC. Had been there my whole life aside from a year and a half in DC. And boy I’ve had my share of disappointment. Hope I’m not too late on the climate change scale to experience a snowy NYC winter. Excited to learn some of the fundamentals of this climo! If you're a football fan, how do you like Bill? My guess is that since you were not up here for the very snowy period that some here grew up with and thought was the new normal, you won't be disappointed especially when you compare a winter here with those further south.
