bluewave
The extensive grassy areas surrounding the Tweed HVN airport have turned brown over the last few weeks. It has been the 8th driest June 1st to July 23rd on record here with under 3.00” of rain. Combine that with the 4th highest average high temperature to enhance the drying. Plus the 98° max during this period here was the 3rd warmest temperature ever recorded here. We have been seeing very little balance with our rainfall patterns. Some areas have had extreme flooding with other areas seeing very little. While we have been in an overall much wetter pattern last 20-25 years, many times we are getting the rainfall all at once rather than spread out. This has been a top 5 warmest summer so far for low temperatures across the region at most of our stations. Several stations have made the top 5 for highs including mine. It’s what we get with the dew points near the highest on record for the month of July. If the week 3 forecasts continue to verify warmer than the EPS heading into August, then this could finish as one of the warmest summers on record for low temperatures. This is our first four day period without rain since early June. I only expect or want rain one day per week at most. yeah lawns here pretty green and a historic year for crabgrass. Im enjoying the recent dry spell and hope we avoid storms over the weekend

It's much more comfortable with less rain and a drier kind of heat.

Most of the lawn is browning up and going dormant but it’ll come back just like every other summer.

Don't get me wrong, Rob, 1 inch of rain once a week is good. I can admit I was glad that it cooled down after that 2 day extreme heat we had in late June lol. I didn't think anyone was even keeping daily weather records in Newark from the early 1840s. How does the weather record of Newark beat NYC's by almost 30 years? 25000 people lived in Newark back in 1845 compared to over 310k now. Doesn't even compare. Please stop drinking, washing clothes, showering, washing the car, watering the lawn and some other everyday stuff. That aquifer under the sand bar needs some help 2 hours ago, LibertyBell said: summers should be dry, we have hoses for those who plant stuff that needs water. And where is it that the water comes from that comes out of those hoses? Rain maybe? Nah...

They used to average only 6 days reaching 90° a year from 1843 to 1872. The winter weather records are pretty fun to look at also.
