The New York City area's most severe June heatwave is now concluding. The June 23-25 period saw the highest composite mean high temperature for the New York City area and the highest 3-day composite mean high temperature. No other event comes close. It even beat the synthetic 1- and 3-day periods.

The synthetic 1-day mean temperature included all the pre-2025 highest June temperatures on record for a one-day period. The synthetic 3-day mean temperature include all of the pre-2025 3-day periods with the highest June average high temperatures on record.

I don’t have pics to prove it, but a Suffolk County police friend just told me that parts of sunrise highway are buckling from the heat. In my 56 years, 57 tomorrow, I have never seen or heard of this happening. I’m a closet recluse, so maybe it has happened before. Happy birthday to me!

I got mostly clear skies here, not that many puffy clouds really

it probably has to do with the sea breeze front, I notice that it's cloudy when it's close by.  I'm down to 89 degrees here now, so the heatwave is now officially over here, even though it feels much more uncomfortable now than when it was 100+ a few hours ago.

It reached 102.0-102.6 9 times here today, the last time was at 4:51 pm, after that another wall of clouds moved in and didn't leave. The humidity must have spiked too, because it felt a lot worse after that than it did at any point earlier in the day.

The seabreeze is coming up beautifully on JFK radar.

I would have posted it but the site doesn't let you upload files bigger than 12KB

89 degrees now it's not that beautiful, it feels much worse now than when it was 102+ earlier. Overcast extremely humid weather is my worst possible combination of weather, at least when the sun is out it keeps the humidity lower.

The last time it hit 102.0 here was at 4:51 pm, the ninth time I hit 102+ today.

It also happened in NJ

Sea breeze beginning its march north. The sea breeze held off longer than it did yesterday. Imagine today's winds with yesterdays temps all of LI would have been solidly above 100

I didn't really experience a sea breeze either day, yesterday was hotter though but I would say that's because we only had clouds for a short time (sporadically between 3 and 4).  Yesterday I was up around 104 until 6:20 or so and today I was up around 102 until about 5.

We were only downplaying the widespread mid to upper 100s the Euro was showing for awhile there last week.

I thought it was also fair to downplay the Monday highs of mid 100s the Euro had that didn't come close to materializing. It was all on its own with those highs.

The storm complex for Sunday was definitely downplayed, that thing turned a day that some models showed in the upper 90s into a day that only touched 90 at like 6PM after spending most of the day in 70s and some 80s.

But no serious person expected to escape the mega ridge without some epic heat. There was no way out.

it was historic because we didn't get the seabreeze nonsense of every mediocre heatwave after 2013.

the last two days were truly historic.  I did a quick survey of local weather stations (the micronet does not save high low information, which is a drawback.)

the first and third weather stations in this list closely match my highs of 102.6 and 106.0 the last two days.
