Looking forward to some more storms this evening. Will be fun to see whether we just get some decaying popcorn at the hyper-local level or if a baby squall line can form as lot is discussing

0.19" of rain moved through today. Sun has broken though, and now temps up a little into the low-mid 50's from upper 40's early this afternoon. Nickels n dimes on the rains, but it keeps the needle slowly heading upward.

Made it to 67 earlier today before thicker clouds arrived.  Spotty rain is moving through with barely a trace so far, temp down to 47... house is chilly, debating a fire.

Cool, and damp wx? No debate here...light it up. :)

Might as well be in some kind of blocking pattern at this rate. Very few, if any, dry days to come by over the next couple of weeks. May 2003 all over again. May 2003 had a record 21 days with measurable rainfall.

Prelim data in for April, and we have another warmer month in the books this year. April's sure have struggled to be on the warmer side in recent years for the sub as whole. 5 & 10 yr trend charts shown respectively.

It has been a glorious spring for much of the subforum, on the heels of one of the mildest winters of record. Only a couple analogs - 2012 was a bit warmer region wide, 2010 was similar, 1878 looks like a close historical match.

Mid 40's, and raining this morning. Line of rain moved in from the S, training in from the SE. Looks like a wet one through tonight.

Update: rain moved N, and looks like stms popping to my S. Should see more action later today. Would be nice to have some thunder. :)

Some dog walk pics of a line of storms that rolled through a bit before sunset. Was zooted; walked up a local preserve sled hill and didn't realize how close the storms were getting until the first rain drops started falling out ahead.  Just as I started to walk back down the hill, the cell headed straight for me started producing really consistent branching CC lightning; checked radarscope  to find a new severe t-storm warning on said cell. Only then did it register that I now needed to run two miles back through the muddy ass forest to my neighborhood with the accompaniment of lightning overhead and rapidly worsening rain. I had barely wrapped my head around the warning when I started hearing tornado sirens. At that point, ofc, the ol' adrenal glands managed to shake off the thc with ease and whoo boy, I don't think my ass has hauled like that since college track. I did slip in the mud one like a fool but other than a muddy pair of pants, I was fine. Sirens lasted for about five minutes; family says they were on in Plainfield, too. The storm never received an official tornado warning, to my knowledge. I don't think I've ever seen the sky be that rich in color.

Numerous areas are experiencing a few different heat bursts in a corridor from E. Nebraska/Omaha area into N. Illinois tonight, as decaying clusters of showers/t'storms work through. This beneath a nice plume of solid lapse rates and a solid inversion with a deep layer of warmer/drier air just off the deck.

MLE out near Omaha is probably the best example I can find, from from 60/46 to 70/33.
