The ensembles are indicating a very active period coming up starting next week.

I will take my chances with an active pattern in the heart of Winter and hope it’s just cold enough to deliver snow.
We will probably win some & lose some, but it doesn’t look boring.

Exactly- chances in January are our best bet at getting something we all want.

I am a bit down about little snow in Dec( again).  Snow Dec 15-30th is bully in my book.

MDT only averages 5.4 inches of snow through the end of December.

I would love more snow in December, but Our averages and odds are much higher in January & February when MDT averages closer to 10 inches per month.

White Christmas is always a stretch but each year we hope (a true one not 2-4" washed away the same day)

There are still some small snow piles in some parking lots around here from the 12/22 event that brought 2 to 4” to many.

There was also still some ice on the lake at Little Buffalo state park today.

Echoing others, was a bit disappointed with the unexpectedly wet conditions yesterday. I had some buddies over to saw down some trees and limbs and didn’t care for the dampness. But the Miller Lite was flowing soundly so things weren’t all bad ha. Plus a Penn State victory made things more tolerable. Still no rain gauge up at the new house ugh.

and to add to Newmans post above....verbatim the 12z GFS shows snow on snow for the LSV inside the next 7 days, as there is a wave coming UNDER us next Monday as well.

I'm taking this as a step in the right direction, as were not 240+ searching for paths to victory, and ens guidance continues to look a bit less ugly than what we currently are seeing.

and to add to the options for next Monday, the ICON has a wonky Miller B come at us into WVA then pops off the VA coast.  rt 30 and N stay in the blue precip and only coatsville to conshohocken get taint/rain.

Not sure I'm buying what its selling, but I'm doing some heavy window shopping for sure.

Overall consensus is notably better (and flow pattern looks reasonable), so hey I'm taking that as a ++?

I'm guessing the nighttime lows have to be close to a record tonight. Low 50's for a lot of areas. Considering my towns record daytime high was 60 and the low tonight here is 53 I'd imagine it's gotta be close

It has already been down to 43 today at MDT so that will probably be the low for today (the record is 47 so already beat that) ....the record high low tomorrow is 57.  That may be in play though the HRRR has MDT getting down to 55 tomorrow AM.

I'm just hoping that we can keep the cloud deck to not get into the 50's or my windows may be open as well...
