It has been quite an afternoon. CT shore is rocking and it'll still be hard to verify 18-24 in the heaviest BDR HVN to DXR places. At least we have a chance.

Do or die time on the coast there is about 4-5pm or so onward....that's when the really good lift with the cross-hair sig moves in.

It's starting to stick here. Feels a little cooler. Snow is healthier. Less white rain.

In Manchester it seems like alot of snow falling but not really great snow growth for the past few hours.. Those crappy, spindly looking snow flakes that sputter and spit.

Hopefully it picks up and/ or is better at home. Right now this is kind of lame.

Depends if they’re counting 1/4SM as blizz criteria now.

What do you think about the band in SE CT to RI. Will that pivot thru CT?

How much for you? How close are you to the airport?

Definitely the heaviest snow I've witnessed this season at this location in Ayer, right now -

Vis reduced to 1/4 ~

why wouldn't they? Has that changed?

Criteria has always been under 1/4SM. But with automated ASOS sites without augmentation it’s damn near impossible to get obs of M1/4SM. A lot of the old manned 0SM, 1/16SM, and 1/8SM obs are seen as 1/4SM by the ASOS now.

Agree, HRRR soundings for Boston metro were always garbage before  4-5pm... then look excellent through at least 10pm

I expect snowgrowth and rates to improve significantly within the next 90 minutes

Seems per Will's rad up there ...this band along and immediately N astride rt poop has materialized over the last hour. We were 'fuzzy' at 1.5 mi vis for a couple hours and then this materialized ahead of the band we've been tracking which is still S of here.  There's even a relative lull between - interesting

Oh I see, hard to imagine with 40mph winds and heavy snow it wasn't under 1/4SM.

Plus it’s so wind whipped. Serious drifting

Also I think you need 4 hourly obs to get the 3 hours inclusive...not sure. BDR is manned today too, but I’m not sure if they augment vis obs.

Maybe  @OceanStWx  knows how GYX goes about verifying it.
