Yep, this is a picture perfect evolution for us. Mid level lows are closing off now which is forming this CCB over NJ. We would be getting ready for 2”/hr about now.

2 years in a row on this date that we have been screwed. I was forecasted to get a few inches with the December storm last year.

I got 0

Bright banding overhead and rain coming down pretty heavy. Maybe I can say a gloppy snowflake comes by once in a while but if only we were 1000’ further up.

Exactly, you can see the snow going by overhead. I had a few mangled flakes driving to my parents in wantagh from lynbrook. I thought for sure you would have seen at least some snow there being higher, but the winds trip across the sound is probably ruining that.

I bet the top of the Nordstrom tower in Manhattan (it has a flat roof and would be an epic observation spot at 1550’) had a few inches

One of these days my move up here will be worth it finally. ;)

Looks to me like OKX radar is setting up what will probably be the primary bands arcing northward from central LI thru ORH... vicinity Brookhaven I91 in CT thru I84 to ORH.  Somewhere along there, there should be a very good snow response. Let us know if any thunder. Thanks.

would have been a foot+ easily with even a seasonable airmass. too bad so sad

TWC giving bad info again saying this storm tracked too close to the coast for snow in coastal areas.

Snow mixed in with the rain-nasty day outside in Melville, NY

why does it look like snow is confined to CT and points north on the radar?

you'll still be coming down to the south shore during moderate to strong el ninos, when the south shore is traditionally the sweet spot in the big HECS

Yeah that’s ridiculous. This is a classic evolution for a huge event here. Shame it was wasted.

Doctor Greg Postel is talking about it now, saying it's tracking west of the benchmark calling it a coastal hugger, saying it needs to track east of the benchmark to be snow for coastal areas.

Our best snow events actually track inside the benchmark. Outside the benchmark is a graze or miss. Glad I don’t watch them anymore.

Well, there's an SE wind at ACK, the latest ERC is almost complete ;) and it looks like the center is gonna go right up Buzzards Bay :)

Cool feature on the radar:
