Snowstorms Posted November 23, 2020 2 hours ago, michsnowfreak said: it was the biggest snowstorm of the winter 1950-51 at Detroit with 6.3", but if I lived thru it in SE MI I'd be insanely jealous of further east lol. The biggest November snowstorm on record for Detroit is 9.2" set wayyy back Nov 11/12, 2019 lol. That Nov 1950 storm is YYZ's second largest November storm on record. 12" in a single day and a final total of 15". But I can see why DTW got 6.3". Temps were marginal. Was it a Gulf Low? cyclone77 Posted November 23, 2020 1/4 mile in heavy snow at Des Moines. Looks like a quick inch or so after midnight here, followed by 1"+ of cold rain tomorrow and Wed. EDIT: DVN hoisted a winter weather advisory for the north third of the cwa.
Chicago Storm Posted November 23, 2020 Put me down for 1-2" on colder surfaces in much of the metro, except near the IL shore with onshore flow (at least somewhat onshore) off of 50 degree water temps.Easy under in the metro.Out toward RFD that should be golden.. Go pull up the old maps and you'll be impressed.
Hoosier Posted November 23, 2020 LOT went WAA for some of the area, mainly driven by timing of the rush hour and not so much totals.

Hoosier Posted November 24, 2020 Down to 33 here. Will at least allow some surfaces to cool to near freezing for several hours prior to precip onset.
hawkeye_wx Posted November 24, 2020 This won't last long, but giant flakes (1-2" diameter) are dumping here. We probably have an inch so far.

Very large flakes pouring down here as well, but it's not sticking as it's still 35 degrees. Actually started out as mostly light rain before the large flakes mixed in.
