Steady snow 31/29

Probably good news for us. Soundings are good for snow on latest HRRR but really marginal, i.e. off a half to 1 degree too cold at 800-850, it's sleet for a good while instead of snow. It's been pretty insistent on the last few runs that it's snow when the heavier rates come in. Precip shield looks good so far. Fingers crossed for a few inches.

I am predicted to have 3-5 inches.  Looking at the radar I see no way that we get this. Where is the moisture?  I am guessing 1-2 at most.

Snow started at 12:15 out this way. Heard a few pingers. Radar looks good.

Yeah confused about the above comments. If I didn't know the forecast, judging by radar, my guess would be 3-6"

Dual pol suggests that precip starts as sleet but once it gets going it changes to snow. Sleet line is sinking SE a little as it comes in. Would make sense that the column cools with onset of precip.

I hope I am wrong.  I am rooting for prediction to be right.  Looking now at radar it looks to be ramping up so hoping for some good snow.  Good luck all!

snowing here on the south shore- sort of.  It's like a white rain with snow flakes mixed in but looking more snowy by the minute, looks like it's transitioning to all snow

After about 15 minutes of sprinkles, around midnight it changed to sleet and it sleeted lightly for about 20 minutes and has been sleeting moderately since then and we have already have a treacherous coating of sleet on all paved surfaces.  It's 32F here in Metuchen.

About 50-50 snow/sleet now.  Hoping we get mostly snow, but I'll take sleet over rain any day.
