OMG, heaviest snow of the storm right now - and close to the heaviest I've ever seen. 100-yard visibility. Haven't measured since the 9.5" at 8:30 am, but would guess we've added at least 4" since then. Time to head back out..

Every storm is different but you generally want to be just inside of the big band right now to max totals. Worked in 2006 and 1996.

Yeah, its tough to know when that will occur but the band always weakens as it collapses back SE, in 1996 it massively weakened and then re-strengthened a bit over LI.  In 2006 places in far ERN Queens saw nothing of the likes of what LGA/NYC had as the band weakened as it crossed into Nassau.  In this case it has looked like weakening won't occur til some point over LI.

Yeah, it looks like from 3z on at least with the NAM, the remaining snow breaks up and from there, maybe another 1-2" where it's still snowing. But looking back into PA, there's a long way still to go.

8-8.5" at Dobbs Ferry NY as of about 10:30.  Puppy is loving it, first time seeing real snow outside of hiking in the Adirondacks a few weekends ago.

 

Looks like another 10-16" is possible through 2am, based on modeling.  Winds have been moderate gusting to about 30mph so far.

It's not even close to dry slotting. Heavy bands are in the city and more are pushing in.

I am in between warren and new providence... slightly better elevation from those towns, and 35 dbz... I am at 16 -16.5 inches. Mt Holly has me in 30-36 now
